I've finally created a realistic manned mission to Duna.  An ambitious project, launching nine rockets and eight kerbinauts to Duna and back.

Blood, sweat and tears went into this video so please do comment, like and share.

This mission is based around NASA's Semi Direct proposal.  I want to make a whole host of manned missions to Duna to help demonstrate the kind of techniques needed for man to go to Mars and I chose Semi Direct first as it seemed a very simple but effective way to test mankind's theories on interplanetary travel and the logistics that go with it.

I also wanted to make this video to demonstrate that a mission to Mars must be relatively easy.  I figured If some random nut in his bed room can figure this out all on their own then there is no reason not to back any space agency wanting to attempt this endeavor.

It may not be noticeable at first but this may be my most epic video to date. Most of my videos take about 2 evenings to make but this video from start to finish has taken 27 days of research, designing, building, mission planning, piloting, video editing, rendering and random tinkering.

Sadly due to my PC power I was getting 2 fps when the base was at its largest which is why I left the third MAV in orbit.  As I chose Semi Direct due to it's simplicity it leaves me worried that any other attempt by me to create a manned Mars missions will end up being too simple to give these ideas justice but we shall see.

Due to this reason I also abandoned using the rovers I designed to compliment this mission, you can see the docking ports I added to the base for them.  If your PC can handle it I advise sending your own, just make sure the docking ports are the correct hight off of the ground.
