this guide isn't too useful for the 99% of players who can't 1cc this absurdly difficult game
There are probably methods of grinding stars to unlock Z-Type, but I don't know of them. The reason why I recommend clearing the game with 1 credit (on novice difficulty) is because it's a reasonable goal to aim before attempting the Score Attack achievement, meanwhile unlocking Type Z which makes Score Attack significantly easier.
The 1cc novice achivements have ~5% completion rate, which isn't too bad considering the harder achievements are ~0.5% completion rate or lower
I've watched a bunch of Time Attack attempts, and the ones that achieve Master++ rank seem to meet one or more of the requirements:
- Score over 73 mil
- Get more than 2800 break
- Collect more than 80,000 stars
Given all my past experience with this game, I wish I could give a more conclusive answer to this question. All I can say is that Master++ is possible with type-III as well. (Proof: I did it here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=19QP85vXzUw )
