Hello everyone, how are you? In this guide I will tell you how to play Pyro in competitive or in a normal game.

The mission of the Pyro :

In tf2, all classes can counter an other one. Indeed, one of the best enemy of the Spy is the Pyro, we say that the Pyro is a spychecker (a class who can find easily an invisible spy or a disguised spy). You have to know that the Spy job is to backstab the enemy Medic (in competitive). That is why the Pyro is the perfect class to protect the Medic : morever he can counter enemy über thanks to his airblast, he can reflect projectiles and thereby protect the Medic. But the Pyro can also protect Engineer constructions by spychecking or by destroying sappers.

Now that you know the role of the Pyro, which loadout do you have to use?

First loadout :

Main : Degreaser
Secondary : Shotgun / Flare Gun / Reservist Shooter
Melee : Powerjack / Axtinguisher / Homewrecker / Neon Annihilator

Here we use the Degreaser to make combo by switching weapon when the enemy is burning or in the air thanks to an airblast. You can also use the Homewrecker or the Neon Annihilator to destroy Spy sappers. The Powerjack here permit to backup or to get health by killing someone with.

Second loadout :

Main : Flamethrower
Secondary : Shotgun / Flare Gun / Detonator / Scorch Shot
Melee : Powerjack / Homewrecker / Neon Annihilator

Here we just burn and reflect all things going to our Medic or to your Engineer. You cannot use effectively combos like the previous loadout because you cannot switch weapon as fastly as. Just use the secondary weapon to hit enemies when they are far. The Powerjack here just permit to backup.

The Phlogistinator is not very usefull because it cannot airblast.
The Backburner can just airblast 4 times so it is not very interesting.

This is the end of this guide, I hope guys you enjoyed it.

ByeBye!

The Reserve Shooter is banned in competitive play.

There are only a few loadouts that comp highlander (9 v 9) pyros should use unless they have an extremely good reason to do otherwise in certain situations:

Primary:
Degreaser (you need to have plenty of airblasts available to protect your teammates, and the stock flamethrower reduces the versatility of your secondary attacks)

Secondary:
Shotgun (great for maps with lots of tight spaces where long range damage is less important) Flare gun (great for pyros with top notch flare aim)
Scorch shot (the easiest tool available for lighting enemies on fire at very long ranges)
Detonator (can be used when extra mobility is a primary concern)

Melee:
Powerjack (should be used in the vast majority of situations)
Homewrecker (can be used when your only focus is babysitting an engineer, especially on the last point)
