Introducing Tony
Tony is the number one guy for defensive purposes. You have the only sentry block in the game and you can use it to great effectiveness. You are capable of holding a base on by yourself for some time, providing distracting defenses that the enemy must take down before they can move on to your cube. That means your job is protecting those defenses. He is the only character who can repair friendly blocks, and should do his best to keep everthing in top form. Put any other Hero with him to help take on enemies going after defenses, and there is no reason why you can't hold out till the end.

Tony's Loadout
Rivet gun

Gun is meant for close range combat, but aiming down the sights and while crouched will increase the concetration of the bullets for short-medium range shooting.

Caulk Gun

Use this to repair your turrets as well as things like tikis, radars, health, ammo, and building blocks. The gun has two modes. Left clicking the mouse button will repair the brick at a slow rate. Alt-fire (Right click) will repair it faster at the cost of more ammo.

Drill

Tony's digging tool is a drill and it's used to gather resources by destroying blocks with it. Beside of this it is used to damage the enemy's cubes and cores if you get close to them. As a side note I want to say that there is no difference in world damage between any of the character's digging tools.

Better, Faster, Stronger

When activated with the default 'f' key, this ability will decrease the amount of time to build things for Tony and his teamates around him. It will also buff the damage of nearby turrets. As you level up, this time will increase in duration.

Hard Hat

While building Tony will recieve reduced damage.

Turret aka Lil' Buddy

This is the mac daddy of defensive blocks. It can fire in all directions, except straight up or down. As it shoots, it will steadily lose health as it uses up ammo.
Block Choice
There are a couple different blocks you can use depending on your role (Defense/Offense), as well as your enemies' roles and hero selections. Taking that into consideration, I will show you the blocks I use as a defensive Tony. I will go into more detail about strategic placements and uses of these bricks after this.

Lil' Buddy:

This is the default and can not be unequipped. Not that you would want to. Each turret placed will increase the cost of the next one by 200 bricks.

Brick:

Tony is a construction guy, so he likes to build things. For that this is a must. Each brick costs 10.

Health Station:

Needed to heal yourself and your teamates. At the moment only three characters can place them. Tony, Eliza, and Genie are heros that should always have this block on them. When destroyed, it drops a one time heal. Each Health costs 200.

Ammo Crate:

Replinishes ammo for all allied heros. Like the health cube, only three characters can place. Each one will cost 200. Destroying it will drop an ammo pickup.

Force gate:

This transparent block will let allies through, but will act like a normal brick to your enemies. Turrets cannot shoot through them. Each one costs 50.

Fire Trap:

When enemies set it off, it will do 40 damage as well as give them burns that will do damage over time. Each one costs 200.
Strategy: Defense
Turret Placement

If you ever need to have someone on defense there is no reason not have a Tony with his Lil' Buddy. With the correct coverage, enemies will need to take down turrets before they can even think of attacking the cube. Turret placement is all about finding the right balance between line of sight and protection. For example, a turret out in the open like this:

Will have a great line of sight, but poor protection. A turret placed like this:

Will have less sight, but offers greater protection to itself. I find having a mix of the two the better route to go sometimes.

In order to insure a long lasting turret, think about the possible ways they will try to take it out. A sarge can stand out of sight and fire rockets. You can repair a turret faster then he can destroy it, but a problem arises when he destroys the blocks underneath. To counter this you can dig out a block and replace it with a brick. You could also dig out the surrounding blocks and replace them to soak up damage.

A turrets line of sight is 10 blocks, so if you build walls take that into consideration and don't build them too far away.

Some things to consider when placing turrets is the map your on. Some maps have a very open area around the cube, like causeway. With no natural way to protect turrets your turrets are going to be taken down more often. Since each one increases the cost of the next, you will be able to replace them if you keep the amount low. On that map I keep the turret count limited to 3 or 4. On maps like mountain express there is a lot of natural cover and so I usually have 6 or 7 at the start of the match, if my team cuts structures for bricks.

Always try to have at least 2 or 3 turrets down. Once those turrets are gone you're going to be on your last leg surviving and keeping the cube alive.

Fire Traps

When you have your desired turret count down, and can spare resources, fire traps are a awesome addition to a defense. Spending 200 for each may seem too steep of a cost to be worth placing a few, but you must take into consideration the cost of the enemy taking down a turret or other defenses if they make it to them. I would hesitate to place too many firetraps before the start of the match. Instead, watch your enemy and place them in the spots they are most likely to run over.

Health, Ammo, and Force Gates

The importance of having health and ammo is obvious, but placement is just as important. Standing on on ground level, health and ammo can be placed 2 or 3 blocks down and the radius will still cover you. Force fields are great as doors or windows to shoot out of, and can be used to maintain visibility with the enemy while getting healed.

Radars, Mobility, and Maps

Radars are a must for any base. Sadly, Tony must rely on other Heros to place radars. Politely ask them to place a few, and badger them if they don't. Be mobile and make sure you are monitoring all areas of your base. Keep a close eye on the mini-map in the top right corner. Enemies will show up when they enter someones line of sight, so make sure you are watching.
Strategy: Offense and Combat
Disctraction

Don't discount a Tony being really useful on the front lines. He can easily distract an enemy team by making them focus on your turrets instead of your teamates allowing them to dismantle other defenses or go straight for their cube. You can drop a turret from above, or sneak up and carefully place one down. The surprise can usually net you a few kills. He can also support those teamates by building health and ammo.

Combat

Combat is a bit tough with a Tony. You need to get up close to an enemy to do any significant damage, but once you unload your clip you need to either get out of there or be really skilled at dodging. Any decent player will not stand there and allow you to line up your next shots once you reload, and with you moving to dodge their attacks it gets messy trying to get any damage dealing shots on them. Surpise and headshots are your two best friends and the goal is to survive.

Cog, Sarge, Science: When dealing with these characters with large health you have to wear them down over time, with retreats to health cubes an almost guaranteed reality. Just don't even try to hit a sweet science that's in your face. Just run and lead him to your traps.

Genie and Astarella Two characters that might also have to wear down over time, with trips to healing bricks. I would hesitate getting into a close combat role with Genie becuse her secondary alt fire is downright deadly.

Eliza: One of the toughest charcters to deal with as a Tony. To do any damage to her, you need to be close to her. Getting close means not only being in the proximity of her deadly gun, but also all her various posions released by grenades, heal, or death. If you can't sneak up and get most of your shots off before she can react, I wouldn't bother.

Nigel Nigel needs to make precision shots, so if you have to take him out your best best is to get up close and shoot while always being on the move. You could also wait until he has to reload his rifle to unload all your shots. A Tony shooting him at a medium distance without a heal nearby is asking to get killed.

Ninja Staying in close corters to a ninja that has you as a target is foolish. Surrounded by turrets and fire traps you have no need to fear him.

Learn, Adapt, and Survive
What makes a great BnL player is one that can learn. When I'm a Tony I observe everything the enemy does. I try to track each hero and where they go. Too often Heros follow the same path over and over to your base. Not that I blame them for doing that. You didn't die the last time you took that route so why change it?

To be the best defender you must adapt to enemies. Is that ninja taking the same bridge to your base again? Two fire traps will deal with him. Heck, he might even take that route again thinking it's safe only to die to more. Enemy blows a hole through your base? Instead of plugging it all up you should consider using it. They think that hole will be safe and you should let them. Some players will never learn.

For your team to win you must survive. Defensive blocks are an awesome tool to have in your aresonal, but tools still need you to look after them. If you die, the enemy has free reign to remove any obstacles in their way. All the other heros have a good advantage when it comes to fighting, so if you do get into a fight that you can't win you should always have an escape plan.

I think I'll try this. But the saddest part is. Tony is number 3 in my top 3 worst heroes. My Top 3 Worst Heroes are 3.Tony 2.Genie 1.Astarella(Seriously, she sucks so bad. You have almost no chance against defending yourself, her weapons are too weak.) But since this is a Tony guide. I'll say sth Tony related. I think I'll reflect my opinion on Tony and see how good he really is. My best is a short match as offense Tony 5 kills 0 deaths I destroyed the base. I need more practice with Tony even at level 61. (level means playtime and expierience, not skill. But I am pretty skilled.) Better ask friends for tips. By the way nice guide. Could work well for newb.(ies)
