my game randomly crashed too once and i have a hight end pc. the weirdest thing is that a error popup thing didnt appear after the crash

No. But i think that just confirms that COF doesn't work perfectly and need proper remake.

Did you run compatibility for the hlds file and set it to Windows XP Service Pack 3 along with set cof and coflaunchapp to run as admin?
