Atomic Bomb Making
Countries wishing to acquire atomic weapons would need to invest around $50-100 billion in the process. There are two options on the road to the atomic bomb.

A. Build an enrichment plant.
A country with this facility would enrich the U235 required for its nuclear power plants. Countries with nuclear power plants can procure fuel rods according to free market rules. There are currently commercial facilities in 5-6 countries in the world. They are the USA, Russia, France, the UK, India, Pakistan and China. Iran has established and started to operate such a plant. In these plants, the 0.7% U235 content in U238 extracted from the soil is increased from 1.5% to 4%. And this material is used only to make fuel rods for nuclear power plants.

A country with such a facility can increase the U235 enrichment rate to 99% and make an atomic bomb (uranium bomb) directly from this material.

B. Separating Plutonium.
The second way is slightly different. Plutonium (Pu 239), an element not found in nature, has formed in spent fuel rods from nuclear power plants. Its rate in fuel rods is around 0.6%. You can make an atomic bomb (Plutonium bomb) if you separate this substance in the enrichment plant and obtain around 8kg. A 100-ton fuel rod contains 600 kg of Plutonium. But the mechanism to detonate both types of bombs is a separate technology and requires serious research; and no one can sell this information.
