This Guide
Welcome to my overview of Morbius, one of the four DLC characters in the game, and straight up the most powerful of the bunch, simply with his ability to singlehandedly clear enemy encounters on his own. That is, if you play his cards right. This is the character who Blade wishes he was.

In short, Morbius doesn't necessarily boast high damage numbers outright, but he's fantastic at staying alive. So much so, that he can fully abuse the Concealed mechanic to slowly whittle down the enemy, which is easiest to do if he's the last man standing.

His biggest shortcoming is that he is a strong character on his own. He can't support other characters and he can't do anything interesting with the field. It's no surprise he therefore also tends to end up as the last man standing.

Passives and Recommended Stats
A Greater Hunger
Morbius' passive is similar to Captain Marvel's passive. Cast a few cards, cast a special Heroic card, be empowered while shield is up. They are as follows:

A Greater Hunger: The Hunger meter is filled after playing 2 Morbius' cards. Morbius's damage abilies and counter attacks apply 1 Bleed while Bloodlust is active.

A Greater Hunger II: The Hunger meter is filled after playing 2 Morbius' cards. Morbius's damage abilies and counter attacks apply 2 Bleed while Bloodlust is active.

When Morbius used two cards in combat, his hunger meter is full and he gains the Bloodlust Heroic card. It's Free and 0 cost, gives Morbius 25% Max Health Block and grants the Bloodlust passive. The Bloodlust passive is removed when Morbius loses all block, at which point he can fill the Hunger meter again.

His passive is honestly fantastic. The Bleed damage is neat and the block is great. Combine it with Mist Form, and Morbius bleeds the entire battlefield dry.

Recommended Stats
With the Morbius DLC, stats should be a lot easier to attain by using his Abbey upgrades to increase secondary stats. Otherwise you can still do Daily Sparring to raise stats. These are my recommendations for what to level first and why.
  • Resilience. Incredibly useful for keeping Morbius out of trouble when taking hits when under the effect of Resist.
  • Power. Getting extra range on Shadow Strike is highly valued, so get this second.
  • Critical Damage/Chance. Always useful, though less a priority than better defense and potential card draw. Besides, Bleed will do the majority of extra damage anyways.
  • Fortitude. Useful if you get an early Bloodlust going. But otherwise not very exciting.
  • Willpower Ideally Morbius doesn't get hit ever, but if it does happen, Willpower is appreciated.
  • Strength. Morbius only has one card with knockback, and it's not a great card. This makes for his best dumpstat when leveling through Morbius' Laboratory.
Card Tier List
First off, a quick overview on where I think cards belong on my own personal tierlist. Further down this guide I go into detail why I believe cards are good or bad.

Claw

Claw does 150% Offense Damage, +100% Offense damage if the target has Bleed. Also grants 1 Heroism.

150% flat Offense damage is nothing to laugh at. Claw is a strong card that gets even stronger once Morbius starts going ham while under the effect of Bloodlust. Solid, reliable, hits like a truck. Just an all round good card, running one, maybe two of this card is never a bad choice.
Quick Claw

Quick Claw does 50% Offense Damage, is Quick, and has Lifesteal. Also grants 1 Heroism.

Quick cards are always nice to have to deal with reinforcements. Though honestly, compared to other heroes Quick Cards, this might possibly be one of the weakest ones. Still neat, I still tend to run two of them anyways, though switching one out for something else is not a bad idea either. Besides, killing reinforcements are much less a priority for Morbius anyways if you build him to be last man standing, so you could do with less.
Charm

Target an enemy to have them attack a random ally. Also grants two Heroism.

Really useful in missions where shield units get in the way of objectives. You can use Charm to drop their guard so you can swoop in and quickly get an objective. The worst aspect is its randomness, to get the most out of this it is recommended to clear out most if not all of enemies that die in one hit. Otherwise I tend to redraw this a lot, so a good redraw mod on this would be very beneficial.
Shadow Strike

Shadow Strike is a 1 cost Heroic card that does 50% Offense Damage that chains up to three targets. Draw a Morbius card for each unique target.

This, combined with Mist Form, is completely busted. The damage is whatever, nice to put some bleed on units while under the effect of Bloodlust. The one cost is also neat. But the real power is in the draw effect. The fact that it specifically draws Morbius cards as well is nuts. You use this, are nearly guaranteed to draw Mist Form (if you didn't have it in your hand already) and use it to apply Concealed at the end of your turn. Especially if Morbius is the last Hero fighting, it means you can keep drawing these two cards and be Concealed at the end of every turn. Seeing as the start of turn hand draws and redraws prefer to draw only cards of non-downed heroes if possible, this combo is even easier to pull off.
Savage Swipe

Savage Swipe does Forceful Knockback and is Quick if the target has Bleed. Also grants 1 Heroism.

This card sucks. A damage card with no inherent damage, which means no scaling with crit. Forceful knockback can easily do 100% Offense damage, but the Quick under a condition means you would have to set this up properly, which defeats the point of a Quick card. Plus, you already have a better Quick card option at your disposal and better damage cards, so don't even bother with this card.
Cornered

Cornered grants 1 Counter and 2 Resist. Also grants 2 Heroism.

Solid defensive card for Morbius. Especially useful if Mist Form isn't available yet. Doubly neat under the effect of Bloodlust, cause counter attacks also apply Bleed. Running one is recommended, running two is probably overkill.
Echolocate

Echolocate is a 1 cost Heroism card that does 125% Offense damage, + 100% Offense Damage if the target has Bleed. Applies 1 Weak and 1 Marked.

Echolocate isn't a terrible card, but in a bit of a weird spot. It's damage is subpar compared to other damage options. The Weak and Marked are fine, but generally not a thing you want to rely on. The extra Bleed damage is neat also, but again, there's cards that hit harder and better. The fact that it's a Heroism card and not a Damage card is honestly its weakest part. This card would be better against Villains and other big health characters and you'd otherwise want to switch it of for Claw, but that's not really a possibility as it is a Heroic card.
Mist Form

Mist Form grants Concealed and Morbius' next attack deals +50% Offense Damage. Also grants +2 Heroism.

As explained earlier at Shadow Strike, this card makes Morbius untouchable, especially when he's the last Hero standing. Concealed is the most broken status effect in this game and trivialises the highest difficulty. You can run two, but I think it might be a tad overkill, I suggest running a Cornered alongside it instead.
Feeding Frenzy

Feeding Frenzy is a 3 cost Heroic card that deals 225% Offense Damage, +100% Offense Damage per stack of Bleed, then removes all Bleed stack. Also has Lifesteal.

Strong, but unreliable and on the expensive side. Outscales Morbius' Legendary card when attacking anything with 4 or more Bleed stacks, but then the stacks also disappear, so you'd also have to account for that lost damage. Undying Fury is just a more reliable card, and whilst this card isn't necessarily bad, it's overshadowed by more reliable picks. Plus the set-up for bleed is also a strain on your resources.
Undying Fury

Undying Fury is a 2 cost Heroic Card that does 600% Offense Damage to an enemy with Bleed.

It's like Claw, but on steroids. Hits hard, and only needs a single stack of Bleed to be used. Reliable, strong, and one of the few Legendary cards that doesn't exhaust. Rounds out any Morbius deck. Simply a solid choice.
Deck Recommendation
This is the deck I personally run. I also run a bunch of mods, but feel free to experiment with those yourself. Any mod is almost always better than no mods, so get silly with them. My deck specifically centers around Morbius being able to carry when his teammates die, fully focussing on Shadow Strike and Mist Form. The deck I run is as follows:
  • Quick Claw
  • Quick Claw
  • Charm
  • Cornered
  • Mist Form
  • Shadow Strike
  • Shadow Strike
  • Undying Fury

You could switch out Quick Claw for anything else if it floats your boat, most of the time you would be abusing Mist Form or Cornered to survive and Shadow Strike to get those cards back again.
