Plato's Cave

Leírás
Do you have what it takes to exit the cave and venture into the outside world? Leave behind the shadows on the wall and explore a new way to win the game by journeying outside of the cave and founding Plato’s Academy.

SUMMARY: This is primarily an event chain added into the game that presents a new way to win the game, incorporating events inspired by Plato’s allegory of the cave as adapted by the metal band Orphaned Land in their 2018 album “Unsung Prophets and Dead Messiahs”. Race against time (of your leader’s lifespan) and luck to try and understand the nature of the cave, exit it, and accomplish the ultimate goal. If you are successful, you might be able to found Plato’s Academy which wins you the game (or alternatively grants you a science bonus to your capital while you continue playing the rest of the game). Beware, though, for the journey can be perilous and may even require significant personal effort and sacrifice!

DESIGN: This event chain can change the dynamic of how you might play the game, as it may require certain sacrificed resources (such as orders) to progress through it and, if successful, can allow the player to win the game outright. In addition to the sacrifices necessary, progress is probabilistic and success might be limited by your leader’s lifespan. However, opportunities exist to abandon the event chain (before Act III), and in so doing, unlock and access a few other (beneficial) events.

COMPATIBILITY: This mod is compatible with all expansions and should be compatible with virtually all mods. It simply adds to the base game.

DEVELOPMENT AND TESTING: The mod has been rigorously tested. I plan to provide support for this mod to ensure it functions properly. If you run into an issue or bug, please let me know.

Thank you to the Mohawk developers for building a game that is so conducive to modding, and for providing a helping hand and valuable answers for modders when they need a bit more support to understand or implement certain things. A special thank you to Solver without whose encouragement, advice and support I never would have gotten into game modding.
