And if you want to uninstall your game to remove mods, you have to do more than just "uninstall via Steam Library" as mods are not included in the file lists used to remove the game. Preparation Step: Backup Savegames
If you wish to keep your savegames, make a backup of them first by copying them to a safe place which will remain unaffected from the cleaning process.

You can find your Savegames here

%LocalAppData%\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3\PlayerProfiles\Public\Savegames\Story\

For your convenience, you can copy & paste the link above into the address bar of your Windows Explorer - it will get you straight to the correct folder

Each folder you find there represents one savegame.
Make sure to backup the whole folders you want to keep the savegames of.
Step 1: Disable Steam Cloud Service
We cannot allow Steam to inadvertently synchronise savegames during the uninstall/cleanup process. To prevent this from happening, we will first disable the Steam Cloud service for the game.

Right-click on the game's entry in your Library -> Properties -> disable Steam Cloud for Baldur's Gate 3

Step 2: Delete Local AppData
Go to

%LocalAppData%\

There delete the folder "Larian Studios" and all its contents.

You may also look out for any folders created by mods there and delete them.
For details consult the mods authors as some mods create separate folders in local AppData while other do not.

Step 3: Delete Steam Mirror Folder
Steam Mirror Folder?
Long story short: so that you can use Steam Cloud Services for your savegames, Steam is mirroring the local AppData for the game. For the same reason the users who actually use Steam Cloud Service have often more than double the amount of savegames on their storage device.

Because of that I do not recommend the usage of Steam Cloud Service at all, among other reasons. It makes only sense if you play on multiple devices and/or on Steam Deck / GeForce Now. And even then there are often issues when using Steam Cloud. Not exactly Steam's fault, in particular with GeForce Now. But very hard to troubleshoot unless you know what you are looking for.

Go to

..\Steam\userdata\YOURID\

Search for the folder "1086940" and delete it and all its contents.

Unless your PC is being used by multiple users who also uses Steam, there will be only one YOURID folder in userdata. If you need to figure out which is yours, use this

Prepare to get dissapointed in your life.
Step 4: Uninstall Using RevoUninstaller
Why Using RevoUninstaller?
When people try to solve their problems by uninstalling and reinstalling a game, they often overlook certain hidden files. The problem is that the standard uninstaller does not consider these files to be part of the game, as they were not present at the time of installation. So if you leave these files out when you uninstall the game, and it turns out that it was a bad setting all along that caused your problems, the problem will persist no matter how many times you uninstall and reinstall a game.

Hence the official recommendation by Larian Studios to make a proper cleanup with additionally deleting any remaining savegames and user profiles.

A helpful tool in that regards can be Revo Uninstaller. I recommend it.

Even if it does not find any leftover files, it is a great tool to keep your registry clean.
A cluttered registry can lead to performance issues after all.

A convenient free version of Revo Uninstaller that does not require installation can be found here: https://portableapps.com/apps/utilities/revo_uninstaller_portable

The use of Revo Uninstaller for uninstalls in general is a habit that I can wholeheartedly recommend to everyone.
Step 5: Delete Game Folder
Go to

..\Steam\steamapps\common

If you kept the default path for Steam during its installation, it looks like this
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common

if you are using a different Steam Library folder go to

..\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\

Search there for the folder "Baldurs Gate 3" and delete it and all its contents.
Step 6: Delete Steam Download Cache
Open Steam Settings from the main menu of Steam

Go to the Downloads tab and select Clear Download Cache

Step 7: Registry Cleanup
Use a tool, such as CCleaner to cleanup the Windows registry from any leftover entries which might have remained after the manual deletion of files and folders.

A convenient free version of CCleaner (portable) that does not require installation can be found here: https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner/builds
That was it!
