Introduction

With this guide, if you lock your session (WIN + L), the Python script will automatically detect and run WallpaperEngine as a screensaver and turn the brightness to the lowest.

When you wake it back up, it will bring the brightness back to default.

How is it different from a Windows Screen Saver?
Normally, if you are logged in and you are idle for a certain amount of time (let's say 30 minutes), Windows Screen Saver will run, but my goal is not to wait that long and to run Wallpaper Engine immediately upon entering the lock screen (about 5 seconds).

Thus, the Script only periodically checks whether the lock screen has been entered. If it is entered, it immediately starts Screen Saver instead of waiting 30 minutes.
