The greenest of hills!

Green Hill Zone




Welcome to Green Hill Zone, where Sonic's journey to stop the mad Dr. Eggman's evil schemes began! Drawing inspiration from Green Hill's appearance in Sonic 1, Generations, and Mania, this version of Sonic's most iconic location is fully custom sprited to fit Rivals!

Basic Mode features one of Green Hill's loops as a platform, along with a vertical moving platform on the right side of the stage; while Aether Mode removes the loop for a more open layout with a horizontal moving platform instead! Aether Mode also changes the time of day to sunset, casting the stage in an orange glow as a reference to Mania's Encore Mode and Advance 3's Sunset Hill!

Both modes also feature three different cameos, which will be removed if one of the corresponding characters appear in the match. Can you spot the secret easter egg?






Green Hill Zone features eight different music options from across the series, including a special Long Edit of Sunset Hill by Morris!

Tired of randomization and want to select the song yourself? Hold shield/parry and a direction on either stick or the keyboard during the match countdown! The available options change per mode and are as follows: (UP: 1/2, RIGHT: 3/4, DOWN: 5/6, LEFT: 7/8)

I disagree personally but fair opinion lol.
The reason that triggers this is due to sunset hill getting picked if taunt is held down. It's separate from the usual selection but I added it for the friend who did the edit since taunt isn't usually used for much during the countdown.

Just pushed a patch that should fix it (may need to resub to download it), let me know if not.

close, its sunset hill. gonna throw out a hot take but i'd rather be listening to faded hills from sonic forces LOL. activating my champion alt requires a down + taunt during the countdown (i'd give more details but i dont want people impersonating me haha) and just conveniently the song matching the down input happens to be worst one! this stage is so good my only complaint is something caused only by 3 players of 1 specific character.

Go ahead! If you need more references I used both Mania's and Generations' versions of Green Hill when making the stage, could be helpful to look at those as well.
