A very simple "OMG wut do" since googling didn't directly help me before.

The wiki entry for the cat[travellers-rest.fandom.com] is very helpful in the basics. If you're like me and you're very new to the game, maybe you're still wondering why your cat seems to dislike you. It's not because you smell, I promise. All that hard work in the tavern is not going to make a furry friend hate you. They appreciate you funding their new home!

A very obvious issue if you like cat but cat no like you. What am I doing wrong, Billie? I pet cat every day. I buy bed and water bowl. Water bowl is visually full! THAT MEANS EVERYTHING IS OKAY? It's all SO PERFECT WHY DOES CAT NO LIKE ME?

When the wiki mentions that the water bowl needs refilling and I was not seeing visual changes (but for every few days when it just evaporated - I suppose), I did something different.

It matters where you put the water bowl. For the longest time, I had the water bowl on the right side of the cat bed.
This seems to block the cat entirely from drinking the water bowl (since a lot of actions in the game are animated from the sides, not the up/down view). So if you have the bowl on the right side of the bed directly, cat no drink. Cat get mad. No heart time. It may be the same if you have it on the left but I did see the drinking animation happening from the left side of the bowl so that might be fine. Test it if you like.

So learn from my mistake, do not deprive your cat of water and you will find that the heart fills unlike before.
