it's been a while, but i think it's best to detach, start moving the ship towards the breach point, breach, then switch back to the ship and grab, using pause to space it out - should be very fast in real-time (also lol you posted this in the summer)

I also forgot I could use a breach grenade and then pick up the guy in space. but I haven't been able to save a guard with my ship before
