Plutus M2W Warmod RE

Descripción
SUMMARY: Compact Positron Gunship; CV; Helios Module; Reforged Eden; Mid/End-Game

PRIMARY ROLE: It's mean and nasty. A portable tiny Deathstar. The WARMOD does well against larger ships like Pirate Deathmaw Frigates or even far more dangerous foes (see final screenshot). It has 15K very-fast recharging shields, the platform is fast and agile, and it packs a BIG punch. Get in, do a lot of damage, get out, recharge, repeat.

FIREPOWER
  • 12 Positron Cannons, forward facing, arranged like the Death Star :)
  • 4 Positron Turrets, Heavy
  • 2 Minigun Turrets, Heavy
  • 2 Missile Turrets, Heavy

OTHER FEATURES
  • Full combat steel
  • Advanced shields w/ 4 chargers & 4 capacitors, 15K capacity w/ max recharge
  • 2x 320K cargo bays, 1x 40K cargo bay (the Gear Locker), and 2x 320K ammo bays
  • Full medical suite
  • Separate bridges for docking & combat operations
  • Advanced warp
  • Gravity generator
  • SV landing deck. Must be cleared prior to Helios docking.

LATEST UPDATES:
  • 5/20/22 - Gun arrangement modified to make better use of available CPU and simplify loadout. There are now only 4 types of ammo required, and most of the weapons are positron-based. Added two crew members to keep the final CPU count below 2.1 million.
  • 5/21/22 - Restructured top deck for larger SV parking
  • 5/21/22 - Removed 1 Armor Locker & moved the remaining Armor Locker closer to the elevator (port side).
  • 5/21/22 - Removed 2 Heavy Gatling Turrets & 2 Flak Turrets, Maxed out Charging Capacitors (4) and Chargers (4)

COMBAT NOTES:
  • The WARMOD can take on some pretty big opponents: pirate carriers & other large ships with lots of heavy weapons. Trick is to turn auto-brake OFF ('I' key) and strafe to avoid incoming fire, while remaining on target with the primary weapon. If you can avoid getting hit by long-range heavy damage dealers, the Positron Cannons will eventually take their shields down after a few strafing runs. Then use them to take out turrets, thrusters, and burn holes in their hull. Make sure you strafe a lot, and change directions while strafing, to confuse targeting.
  • Speed boost ('Shift' key) and flying backwards will get you out of a fight faster and safer then turning tail and running.
  • Flying this ship is like being a Piranha (yes, the fish). You can take BIG bites out of things. Don't let the size your teeth cause you to forget you're a minnow among whales. Fly dangerous but fly careful, Captain! o7

COMPATIBLE HELIOS BLUEPRINTS

Try an Aurora Light Carrier as a mobile space station with four Helios Modules docked: (1) Plutus M2, (2) Plutus M2W Warmod, (3) P Module RE, and (4) SM20 Cargo.

The WARMOD is directly based on the jrandall Plutus M2 Helios frame and uses the same thruster configuration. In its role as a miner, the M2 rips apart asteroids like a boss's boss and flies like it was born to be a fighter. I've never (legitimately) had more resources in Empyrion. It takes a lot of work to build one in SP survival, but after that, it's easy street, baby. No, seriously. Get one.

The Aurora Helios Carrier RE is something you can legitimately afford in a SP survival game in this lifetime, so long as you have already acquired an ingot-generating monster like the Plutus M2. Plus it holds 4 Helios modules, which is plenty.

Try the Helios P Module 1 RE for storage and production. It has a silly amount of advanced constructors, as well as small constructors, de-constructors, and quite a few storage bays. I usually transfer stuff I bring in from missions for processing or recycling in the Helios P Module. Try the SM20 Helios RE Cargo Module for mass storage.

You are absolutely right about all your comments. It's definitely a glass cannon. I think it might be best suited for a MP combat role, where it could fill a particular niche in the battle. P.S. I just made another ship that is the same size, but WAY more combat effective. 4 posi's, 4 artillery, and 33K shields.

Wanted to also add - I use this in first person, while seeing the huge positron beam fill the screen is fun when firing it's also blinding. If a variant of this is ever made maybe the controls could be placed below either below or to the side of the positron cannon dish.

Ok, having played with it a bit on a survival server: it IS fun, but it's a real glass cannon that takes skill to use effectively. I can take a single nullfier or infector in it without any real trouble but if there's more than one of either it's too much for me to handle. For anyone that wants to try this out - if you have friends that can tank while you use this for DPS it would probably work very well.

For what it's worth I have noticed that the weakest point is the heavy positron turret on top, it's usually the first thing to go. I'm not very experienced with building CVs so I'm not sure what can be done for that. The positron cannons are usually next. I feel like maybe if the rim of the circle the cannons are mounted in were extended forward a little they would last longer as they are usually getting struck from the sides while strafing but that may also affect handling since it would be moving some weight forward.

Thanks for letting me know. I'll spawn the MSC-RE and do some testing. I've only tried it with the Aurora carrier; it's a learning curve. I'm building another Helios module from scratch right now, and am discovering that the landing gear placement is a bit trickier than I realized.

Doesn't quite fit the bays of the Helios MSC-RE, I had to move the landing gears forward 2 blocks. Technically it kinda does without doing this, but you have to lower it enough so that the cannon.. hump clears the edge of the bay, which means the doors don't line up enough to easily get into the carrier. It's not a serious problem and otherwise this seems like it will be fun when I spawn it in survival.
