To start off, I'd like to tell you some rules you can survive Rust with! It really helped me through my 2 years and it's been working for others too!

Rule 1. No trust in Rust

Do not trust that many people because it is easy to get insided/betrayed. People in this game are ruthless, and do not care about your feelings. Had to say it one way or the other.

Rule 2. Do not overstay your welcome.

This rule is for greedy bastards (like myself) who want a lot of loot. Usually in Rust if you stay at a place long enough its gonna bite you in the ass and you die to something. Doesn't matter what but trust me its a pain in the ass.

Rule 3. Do not be the biggest ♥♥♥♥ talker.

If you ♥♥♥♥ talk in this game, hey! kudos to you. But trust me, it won't get you anywhere except some one trying to raid you. You wanna be passive-aggressive in this game. Be nice and be mean.

Rule 4. Don't start off in high population servers

See, when I started rust I started on an official server (Hard Vanilla server), and this was a great mistake for me! Myself with only 30 minutes in rust and that time was spent in the loading screen, was beat to a pulp by people with 8k+_hours. So if you are new you should want to start on Community Servers (like a noob friendly server unless you have that much confidence in yourself).

Rule 5. Agree to Disagree

Trust me for my 2 years of playing I've had friends come and go over stupid arguements, even IRL's.
So trust me just get a long with your FRIENDS (not randoms) nothing for your rust experience will go wrong.

Solo - If you are a solo who just bought the game to buy it or watched some of the youtuber's and got interested, then your'e in luck! Because I have some great tips to stay safe and clean as a solo!
To begin I'm going to start off with some pros and cons of being a solo!
Pros: No loud comms, Loot to yourself, don't worry about team mates dying or needing help, no need to make big bases, pick up better game sense.
Cons: Easy to lose loot, won't get picked up after dying as often, harder to gain materials, harder to move loot, harder to defend from bases.

That probably scares you a little bit, and it will. But soloing is for like more advanced players with a really, really good game sense. So IMO I really dont recommend playing solo for a beginner player!



Multiplayer (2+ players) - This is a great choice for some one who just bought the game, you can either play with newbies as of yourself, or more skilled players to feel like you are good at the game.
Just like I did with solos I'm going to list Pros and Cons before explaining more.
Pros: Easier loot gain, Help from team mates, Big bases, lots of materials, lots of guns, easier to move loot, and easier to defend from raids.
Cons: Distractions, No loot to yourself barely, big base, more materials.

You might be wondering why did I put (More materials and Big base) for both. Well these both have there own pros and cons and are basically the same thing, because a big base requires more materials and that requires a lot of farming. Then with materials if you are to have to much materials in the base, your base could start to overflow with materials and loot would be hard to store.

Well its actually pretty simple. First you want to find a well forested area and start chopping down some trees. Once you have around 6000 wood is when you can start to build a base using the [Building Plan] and the [Hammer]. Don't mistake the salvaged hammer for a better hammer.
Once you have an upgraded wood base you should probably realize there is no door or Tool Cupboard. (Tool cupboards are used to keep people from building on your base and to store different materials so your base doesn't decay.

Building Plan = 50 Wood

Hammer = 100 Wood

Tool Cupboard = 1000 Wood

Wooden Door = 300 Wood

Key Lock = 100 Wood

Inside -

The Attacked: When a person is to gain trust and access to the loot in a base, then betrays the person/ team.

Attacker: When you join a clan and get access to their base, then you raid them from the inside when they are all offline with their own codes.
