Omschrijving
Luma is a gas giant with a mysterious green hue and a faint ring system.

Potentially causes problems in multiplayer due to the hi res cloud files, not fixable on my end unfortunately!

v1.4: Clouds! The planet now looks fabulous up close, not just from orbit
v1.3: Lowered cloud res to (maybe?) fix some problems in multiplayer (apparently not, upped again)
v1.2: Removed Atmospheric Damage script (seems broken, is pointless for this anyways)
v1.11 Better voxel texture
v1.1: Atmospheric Damage script
v1.0: Initial Release

Stats:
-Recommended size: 900 km (use the Plugin Loader[github.com] with the Large Planets plugin or the Console Spawn Planets mod)
-Gravity: 1.86 g
-Atmospheric pressure: 1 atm (max)
-Breathable: no, but oxygen harvestable

Description:
The gas giant Luma catches the observers eye with its alluring and mysterious green hue.
These green bands are caused by clouds of ammonia around the equator sitting on top of the
helium and hydrogen core. Interrupted by white jet streams moving in the opposite direction,
beautiful swirls and storms are created. Around the colder polar regions, the clouds mainly
comprise of methane, giving them an ominous teal hue.

Luma is surrounded by a number of very faint rings, barely visible during the day.
Likely to be the remains of a larger asteroid or small moon, crushed by the intense gravitational
influence, these rings are only around 50 miilion years old and will probably vanish completely soon.

Gameplay considerations:
The planet is basically just a backdrop, there's nothing of interest on the surface.
Not anymore, haha! The atmosphere is now pretty thanks to custom clouds (Best above 500 m). Also you can mine the voxels now to get tons of ice. No other ores though.
Also, because you're not supposed to be able to land on a gas giant, I turned up
the gravity a notch and I added Rexxars atmospheric damage script
. The gravitational field reaches to about half way through the rings.

How to Use:
-Subscribe on this page
-During loading/ creating a new world, go to options->mods
-Add this mod to the list of active mods
-Ingame: shift+f10, select planets, select this one, spawn it in
-If shift+f10 doesn't work, alt+f10->tick creative tools

You want economy stations around this planet?
-Create new world or load world with economy disabled
-Paste in this planet
-Reload world with economy enabled
-Trader station spawn points will then be created around this planet aswell
-Do this after you sized up the planet
-There are probably stations on the "ground", just ignore them I guess

Echthros has made official proxy textures for the Real Solar Systems mod he made for this and the current planets in the Alkurah System, here is a link to em

so does it work on multiplayer now?

and does it damage players and ships when you get close?

I might, I'm working on a differnt planet rn, maybe after that

Have you considered making a version of this that would work with the "Real Gas Giants" mod? This looks gorgeous.
Major Jon  [auteur] 11 jun 2024 om 14:02
yeah, I've heard that before, don't know why it happens with that mod. you'll probably have to spawn it in manually then or use the console spawn planets mod

Ok so this planet spawns with its rings sideways to planets "orbit" when using the star system designer tool. Is that normal?

not really. I get that bug too with large planets, I don't think there's any solution besides making the planet a little bit smaller. It's probably best to set this one to like 900 km instead of 1000, I feel like 1000 is about the point where it starts breaking more often

Beautiful mod, but quick question. When I see my gas giant, it usually works, but sometimes its like the graphics for it wont load so it has a jagged edge and its basically transparent in a large portion. Any idea why this happens?

You shoudl add Kimi and Qun as well as tohil on the mod desc. of Luma here so people know that Luma has moons
