Basics
You’re going to find a ton of info in the Traveller’s Rest Wiki.

Here are some key points to keep in mind as you get started:

Your main milestones are going to be the levels, primarily Level 6 when you can hire staff and Level 8 when you can begin renting rooms.

When you get to Level 6 you can hire a bartender to serve food and drinks, as well as a barback to clean the tables. You will still need to be near to calm down unruly customers, however.

At Level 10 you can open the cellar.

Remember to turn the fireplace on each night at 7 PM or the guests get chilly and leave in a huff.

Below is an image of a decent table layout and quality over 100%

Money and Fuel
The money comes in three types and each has a ratio of 100:1, so you’ll need 100 coppers to get 1 silver and 100 silver to get 1 gold.

Your main goal with money is going to be saving up 30 gold to get your second fermentation machine, which will significantly increase the amount of beer and wine you can produce. This is the most time-intensive product to produce, so having two of these should be a primary goal from early on. Don’t waste money!

Each day you’ll find 12 logs outside as well as 10 sticks. This is the tavern screen and the farming screen combined. This gives you a total of 22 wood/sticks to use for fuel each day. The goal is to not buy too much coal so you can save up for that second fermentation machine.
Renting Rooms
Once you reach Level 8 you can begin renting out rooms. It costs 1 gold to open up two rooms, but then you’ll need to buy a bed, small table, small bench, and light for each before you can rent them.

The real goal is to get the quality of each room as close to 100 as you can so you can charge the highest amount. To do this, stock each room with rugs, pictures, swords, cacti, and bigger tables/benches.

That’s it for now. Thanks for reading!

TR Character Update 0.5.1 - June 2022 Update
Thanks to everyone who’s read this guide so far, nearly 5,000 people. I had no idea that many people played this game!

I played it quite a bit back when it came out, but stopped in November 2020 and didn’t pick it up again until the June 2022 character update.

My, have things changed!

I’ll try to update some stuff here:

The most important component - brewing beer quickly - has changed. You now have to research metal production to build a new brewing machine.

You have to pay your workers hourly now, and it really eats into profits. I suggest having a barback most of the day, but get rid of the bartender when your outside tasks are done and just do that role yourself. You’ll save lots of silver each day.

I don't understand the aging process in the cellar. Is 1 bottle equal to 1 day of aging?

How do you get tools? I start the game with no money and no tools... there doesn't appear to be any way to generate income.
