Knowledge tables (WIP)
By Mr. n
I wanted to have some info handy, without having to look for it on wiki or somewhere else altogether. I didn't find the info I needed in other guides, so I wrote it for myself. If you happen to find it useful - great!

The guide is still (July 2020) a work in progress - I write down stuff I think I'll need later on and leave gaps to be filled in later...

Plants
  • Plants are stored in deposits before you plant them
  • The game states that a fully-grown plant will drop seeds into nearby empty planters, but I never managed to have that luxury.
  • Plants cannot be sold or traded, only tossed away when still in "cargo" phase or killed at the greenhouse

Clonable species
Clonable species fall into a handful of classes (based on stats).
Classes differ in stats between each other, but not within the same class.

Same class species on the same level have identical max hp, intelligence and resistance and differ only with immunity and required environment gas.

Versatile 3 resistance = Tank 3 resistance = Engineer 2 resistance

Intelligence can be inferred from the names of classes - Engineers > versatiles > heavies > tanks
Versatile 3 intelligence < Engineer 2 intelligence
Engineer 3 intelligence is obviously the maximum amount possible, while Tank 1 is the lowest possible.

Since resources in any given galaxy are finite, it is imperative that you know what to use them on.

Defenses:
  • Turrets
  • Energy Barriers

Harvester upgrades must be found on planets.
Harvester upgrades:
  • Entrance Barrier [1000 hp]
  • Harvester Speed
  • Biotank Capacity [+10 -> 30 total]
  • Extra turret

Weapons and ammunition types
You can find ready-made ammo at planets (near POI sites) or as drops from enemy (both stowaways and on planets). This makes raw materials which you can turn only into ammo the primary choice for trading.

There are 6 types of ammo in the game. Each of those can have only 24 packs of ammo in weapon racks at any given time.

Ammo types and sizes:

Galaxy seeds / setup
You can type in the galaxy seed and/or click on the values to set up your galaxy.

I haven't played with the generator yet, so I am not sure about some of the settings yet.

Functionally, first 8 characters of Galaxy seed are the actual seed, the other 11 characters are settings.
E.g. galaxy
0000000000000000000
with everything on minimum is functionally the same galaxy as
000000009AAAAAC9236
with every setting on maximum.

Galaxy seeds have to conform to the below regular expression or they will self-mutate after first click anywhere to conform to it:
[0-9]{9}[0-9A}{5}[0-9A-C][0-9][0-2][0-3][0-6]

Assorted tips
  • You can get a full refund on some modules (e.g. storage if you are full and therefore cannot use tractor beam or refine materials), not counting the reinforcement to them, though
  • Do not use Grenade Launcher inside, it's a bit unpredictable and might end up as unplanned suicide
  • When farming enemies on the planet - if you happen to lose track of their drops, fear not - move far enough away and some of the foliage sprites will disappear, while the drop sprites will still be visible
TODO/TBD
  • Colspan/rowspan tables (multiple plants with O2 type - merge cell) impossible in Steam's limited table implementation
  • List alien types according to research type (weapon, ability, dna fragments)
  • Sort tables

Cool! Glad to hear it’s not borked, though I haven’t played the game in years (haven’t even seen the boarding update).

I’m glad it’s working for you - and hopefully the guide hasn’t gone completely our of date yet.

"The game states that a fully-grown plant will drop seeds into nearby empty planters, but I never managed to have that luxury."

I have managed to get this luxury. Condition a) plently of gardeners, b) at least two plants, c) tons of wait time

A quick add if anyone look in 2022:
- Framen and Mechanic do drop Human DNA (I-III) and...
- Mechanic also drops the Energy Rifle sample
- Holo bug (Enargus) helps with Energy Barrier samples.
- Zorc drops the Healing Ability.
- Arachnoids often give the Awareness ability
- Moros (half-body snake with arms) is Damage Up

Notes:
There is a defense up ability but I do not recall accurately if that is from the Rok.

Thanks for the kind comment and sorry I haven't updated it - no time, more important stuff in life, no interest (at this moment) in this particular game.

Glad it helped someone, I was kinda angry this info was nowhere to be found ;).

Thanks, added :).

It's funny and uplifting that this guide still helps people a few versions of the game after I stopped updating it and playing the game (I'll have to bounce back at some point).
