game sense
Game sense is a big part of tf2 you need game sense to think oh this is a common sniper sightline i should not peek this or this spot is never looked at by snipers it's safe now game sense is good and bad bad game sense can get you killed like say for instance your 1v1ing a heavy and he starts to run away good game sense would be to chase after him before he eats his sandvich bad would be go get health and then run after him but that could be flipped if the heavy has good game sense he might be trying to bait you to chase him and then you should go get health that's the thing with game scene it really matters o how long you’ve played it practice more than anything i can give you the footnotes on the scout but you have to apply them in game ok one thing that i do is i mute the in game volume when i'm trying to improve my game sense i go on a fast respawn server with a payload map and just play try to guess where the sentrys would be where the enemy sniper is camping try to think where everything is and where you can take advantage of that thing like does the sniper have blind spots where you can kill him does the sentry have a spot where you can hit it without it hitting you but if you have bad game sense then you can play with a very loud volume and try to listen to all of the sounds in the game and make out which ones are important and which ones are not like if an engineer yells sentry down they you can go where the sentry was and kill the engineer before he builds another here's a list of the important classes which ones you should kill first and which ones you should focus less on
(this guide is for the stock loadout)
(this is a competitive and casual guide)
*the enemy team
Don't try to kill your own team
*medics
The heal the other team and can provide uber that hinders your team
*engineers
They can build sentries and be a big nuisance to your team
*spys
Their insta killing ability puts them high on my list
*sniper
*demoman
*soldier
There rockets can 2 shot you you should stay away
*scout
1v1s while they are fun are kind of pointless and time consuming
*pyro
He can burn your face right off
*heavy
STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM HEAVY'S THEY SHRED THROUGH YOU
aiming
With aiming many people think it's very simple but as you play you realise it is not very simple there are many factors in it for instance let's say you are 1v1ing a scout does he have bonk does he have the baby face's blaster if so how much boost does he have what's his health is he overhealed there are many factors that you have to take in if you don't you could lose but that's not what this guide is about or this section to be exact it about aiming look here's all you have to think about with aiming if there rocket jumping aim were they will be because there moving to fast same thing for scout 1v1s aim were they will be think how fast they can be and if they can dodge your shot if they can try to put them in a spot were they cant dodge it try to put your opponent in an unfair situation were they can't win and you can that its the main thing to do in shooters try to well win and kill them but unlike call of duty or something it's not who sees who first is can you dodge this shot can you hit that shot is this a good time to use my bonk atomic punch its strategy and skill not luck remember that if you die (and there not cheating) it's your fault one thing i like to do is to watch my gameplay after i'm done with it and think how i could of done better in certain situations like i could have dodged that headshot by crouching or something like that
movement
Movement is a tricky topic that many people struggle with like if i jump here can i see to there or something one thing i like to do to make sure i have good movement is to look at all of the maps in a server and memorise the map layout and try to find good spots like when mercenary park came out i spent about and hour looking at the map in a private server before i played casual on it to find all of the good spots on it. Another thing with movement that you should try to remember with 1v1s try to mirror the movements of the enemy this somehow makes them appear to be slower and if you are smart you can change their movement up a bit to dodge shots from them and with jumping in movement you wanna sporadically jump not have it be your whole dodging gimmick try to dodge with just the “a” and “d” keys to straf out of the way from them try to practice them in scout 1v1 servers
