Introduction
Welcome to the 3rd Guide to my series of How to play Counter-Strike!

What is this guide about?:

This guide is about how to switch your weapons to the left handed side and what benifits you will gain from using this command and having all your weapons on the right side.

Who am I? [Edited]

Hey everyone.. I am Senshi.

A previous competitive counter-strike player who has played since 06 in Counter-Strike:Source, and moved into CS:GO on beta where I stayed for the next decade as the game developed further, playing for a few teams and attending small lans close to me.
I wrote this guide back in high school however it has been well received for the last 10 years so I keep it up to date.

I have been high FaceIT and MM player for over a decade however have stepped back from competitive CS in recent years to work on videos more.
You can find me @ www.youtube.com/senshicinema

Lets Begin.
Enabling the Console
If you haven't read my last guide or haven't enabled your console then please do the steps below.

1. To do this press "Options>Keyboard>Scroll to the bottom, find console and enable it to '`' or '~'

2. Now Press the '~' or '`' button (If you used your own press that one.)
Switching the Weapon to the Left Hand
OUTDATED REFER TO LAST SECTION FOR CS2 UPDATE!

Now that we have the console opened, type the following in;

Command:

cl_righthand 0

Some Infomation on using it on your left hand

Please note that at first it will look weird and funny.
Everyone does this, but continue to use it and slowly you will adjust.

Don't just switch it back to 'cl_righthand 1' because the first 2-3 games it's still weird for you.
Stick with it and try be consistent with your weapons. Gradually you will pick up on it.

Side Note:

* You can also set cl_righthand to -1 to have all weapons on the left, but knife on the right.
(Previously Worked in 1.6 and Source, May not work in CS:GO)

*EDIT*

If cl_righthand -1 doesn't work, you can still use :

bind "1" "slot1;cl_righthand 0"
bind "2" "slot2;cl_righthand 0"
bind "3" "slot3;cl_righthand 1"
bind "4" "slot4;cl_righthand 1"

all weapons on the left, but knife and nades on the right.

Thank you Kedrel for giving us this information.
Update for Counter Strike 2
Hey everyone, I just wanted to add the new commands for CS2 to switch sides, if you follow my keybinds from earlier in the guide and change the commands out they should work the same.

Commands:

Left Hand - press ~ and type switchhandsleft in the console
Right Hand - press ~ and type switchhandsright in the console

Cheers,
Senshi

Extra:

How to get only knife on right hand and keep the rest on left:

bind "1" "slot1;switchhandsleft"
bind "2" "slot2;switchhandsleft"
bind "3" "slot3; switchhandsright"
bind "4" "slot4; switchhandsleft "

This will make it so you only have your knife on right hand and the rest of your items with show on the left hand.

Why use it?.. I don't know it looks nice in videos.
Benifits
Information and Preferences

Most just say its personal preference which for the most part it is, but is there any other benefit to it? Yes.
This really only applies to people who switch from left to right all the time and cant decide on which one to use, this guide will help you make that decision but at the end of the day personal preference is king and if you have played comfortably for years with one side, just stick to it.
I got this info from old, old CS players; it’s to do with which eye is your dominant eye. The basics is this, dependent on which eye is your dominant eye, left or right depends on which side your gun model will be of benefit to you.
If you are left eye dominant, you want your gun model on the right.
If you are right eye dominant, you want your gun model on the left.
This is because you want your dominant eye to have the most vision on the screen and to be concentrating on the cross hair and not the gun model.
So how do you find out which eye is dominant?
Refer to the following links to figure out which eye is dominant for you.
http://www.wikihow.com/Determine-Your-Dominant-Eye
http://www.archeryweb.com/archery/eyedom.htm

In-Game Benefits

As I've listed above, Most people being right eyed dominate. Using the weapons on the left hand side you are able to focus more on the cross hair and not have to worry about the weapons getting in the way, if you use the cross hair that is listed in my crosshair guide both the left hand + that cross hair I have found become a weapon of destruction.

Focusing on the cross hair and the size/scale of the cross hair are important when wanting to get consistent head shots and or large amounts of damage done in a small burst.

Thank You
Thank You all for reading

I did have a guide for view models here however I believe the bob cycle commands are no longer available to change.
senshi  [author] 8 Jan @ 10:39pm
are you referring to view model settings?

I run
viewmodel_fov 68 (This is your field of view max is 68)

viewmodel_offset_x 2.5 (Change between ranges -2.5 to 2.5)
viewmodel_offset_y 0 (Change between ranges -2.5 to 2.5)
viewmodel_offset_z -1.5 (Change between ranges -2.5 to 2.5)
viewmodel_presetpos 3 (This is the preset position command)
but the update only says how to change hands im refering to center the gun back to its normal distance xd
