Introduction
This guide will give you instructions and information on how to use the Trade Offers feature.

Trade Offers allow you to make and respond to trade offers from other users regardless of whether or not they are online.

If you're new to Steam trading and you'd like to learn the basics you can read my Beginner's Guide to Steam Trading.

Steam Guard
Before you can participate in Steam trading you need to have a non-limited account which has been protected by Steam Guard for at least 15 days.

Each new device or browser authenticated to your Steam account will be individually restricted for 15 days before being able to use any features requiring Steam Guard. New devices authenticated within your household and previously authenticated devices and browsers will not be restricted.

You can learn more about how to enable and use Steam Guard here. You can also follow my guide on how to enable Steam Guard below.

Trading Safely
Whenever trading items with other users don't trade for anything that can't be added to the trade window, such as money or CD keys. There is no way to enforce or ensure that the other user will ever uphold their side of the trade, the only way to make sure trades are done fairly and legitimately is to only trade for items that can be placed in the trade window.

Making an Offer
Sending an offer to somebody on your friends list can be done by clicking the Trade Offers button from your Steam inventory page.

From the Trade Offers page select the New Trade Offer button.

You'll then be given a list of your Steam friends. Locate the person you want to make an offer to and click on their name. If you'd like to post an open trade to the community you can do so by visiting the trading forums. For more information on this refer to the Trading Forums section of this guide.

Once you've clicked on their name the offer window will appear. In order to add your item offer to the offer window you'll need to select the inventory it belongs to. This can be done by selecting the drop down menu at the top left.

Once you've made a selection the inventory you selected will now be displayed underneath the drop down menu. You can navigate through your inventory by using the arrow buttons and you can search for a specific item by using the search bar and filters underneath it.

To add an item to the offer drag and drop the item thumbnail into the top half of the offers box.

Once you're done adding your items to the offer window you'll need to add the items from the other person's inventory that you want to trade them for. To switch to the other persons inventory select their inventory at the top left of the offer screen.

Once you've selected their inventory you'll be able to follow the steps you took previously to add an item from the other persons inventory to the offer window. This time you'll be placing the items into the bottom half of the offers box.

To finalize the offer select the checkbox on the blue bar so it turns greens. If you'd like to make an adjustment to the offer you can click on it again to remove the ready status. You can also add a message to your trade by typing in the text box.

Once you've checked the box the Make Offer button will light up, to send the offer click on it. Remember that all accepted offers are final.

You'll then receive a confirmation window letting you know your offer was successfully received.

At any time you can view your pending offers by revisiting the Trade Offers page and selecting the Sent Offers button on the right side. From this page you're also able to cancel an offer at any time by choosing the Cancel Trade Offer button beneath each listing.

Offers will automatically expire after two weeks. If the item you offered is traded away through another offer or by trading with another user the posted offer will expire.

If the offer was accepted by the other party you'll receive a Steam notification letting you know that the items have been placed in your inventory. The listing on your Sent Offers screen will also be marked as accepted.

Responding to an Offer
Whenever you receive a trade or counter offer you'll get a Steam notification at the top of the Steam client and the Steam Community web pages. Select the green envelope and then choose the new trade notification option from the drop down menu.

You're also able to respond to an offer by clicking on the Trade Offers button from your Steam inventory page.

The Incoming Offers page will display a list of offers and counter offers which have been sent to you. Beneath each listing you're able to choose to Decline or you can choose to respond. Clicking on Respond to Offer allows you to accept it or make a counter offer.

If you choose Respond to Offer the offer screen will appear. In the middle of the trade windows you'll be given the option to confirm the trade contents or to change the offer.

If you agree with the offered trade select confirm the trade contents and then choose Accept Trade.

The trade will then be marked as completed on the Trade Offers page and the items will be exchanged.

If you'd like to make a counter offer select the Change Offer button. You'll then be able to edit the offer window as if you were making an initial offer. When you're ready to send your counter offer check the blue box and then select Send Counter Offer.

The other person will then be able to accept, decline or counter offer you again in the exact same way. Pending counter offers can be found on the Sent Offers page.
Trading Forums
Community hubs for games with tradable items have a trading forum which allows you to make trade offers with other Steam community members. To access the trading forum visit the Discussions section of the community hub and select the Trading subforum.

You'll then be able to browse through a list of users who are looking to trade. To make a trade offer with somebody through the trading forum open their thread and select the Offer a Trade button.

If you'd like to post your own trade click on the Start a New Discussion button. In order to receive community trade offers your inventory can't be private.

You'll then be able to fill out your trade request. Being as descriptive as possible will help other users looking to trade find your thread. If you'd like to add more detail, you can drag and drop items from your Steam Inventory into the discussion body to link directly to the item.

Before finalizing your thread ensure that you have the trading forum selected in the "post in" field. When you're done click Post Discussion.

You'll then be able to receive community trade offer requests from users viewing your thread. If your trade was completed you can return to your thread and select close this topic to prevent further trade offers.

You can manage your trading forum threads by selecting the "Who can send me Trade Offers" link on the Trade Offers page.
Public Offers URL
You can generate a public URL which will allow anybody who clicks on it to send you a trade offer. You can access your personal URL from the "Who can send me Trade Offers" link on the Trade Offers page.

If you have given out your URL and you'd like to stop receiving trade offers from it you can click the Create New URL button. If somebody clicks your old link they will no longer be able to send you an offer.
