Introduction
Welcome to my guide of Infinity Gauntlet! Adam Warlock, Silver Surfer, and the Hero (aka You) must work together to claim all 6 Infinity Gems, and use them against the insane titan, Thanos.

Skill Shots
These range, in the folllowing order:

Soul Trap Bumpers!
X,X00,000 Points!
Increase Bonus Multipliers!
Light the Super Skillshot!
Impress the Mistress!

Choose whichever one you desire most, but preferably Soul Trap if going for Half the Universe. For the Super Skillshot, you need to hit any shot leading to the Gauntlet for big points.
Activating an Infinity Gem

There are 3 places at which you can make in order to start an Infinity Mode:

1) Towards the Gauntlet itself
2) The Monument (bear in mind, you will NOT make progress if the gate is UP.)
3) Upper right flipper towards the hole at the top, NOT the surfboard.

You must make any of these shots 3 TIMES. Progress is saved when losing a ball. You will NOT make progress during ANY multiball modes, including starting them.
The Time Gem

"Time is a one-way turtle, except if Thanos controls it!"
"Time is a one-way street, except...in the Twilight Zone." (Sounds REALLY similar....)

Your ball will turn ORANGE. In this mode, you have to hit any of the blinking Thanos targets to distract Thanos. Then, hit the Spinner for a U-Turn, and Silver Surfer will move closer. This must be done for a minimum of 3 TIMES to collect the gem. More may be needed if Thanos actually pushes Surfer out of the way. If you fail, you have to start from the beginning of the mode.

Soul Trap will activate after the mode ends.
The Space Gem

"Where am I? You sure you want to know?" - Thanos

Your ball will turn PURPLE for this mode, and will have 30 seconds to complete it. Hit the shot corresponding to Thanos's current position to block the portal. The mode time will freeze and you will have 20 seconds to create the gate, at a different shot. Then, with 20 seconds on the clock, hit the open gate, which will then hit Thanos. You must repeat this process 3 TIMES to collect the Space Gem.

If you fail to hit Thanos, he will move to a different position, and the process must be repeated.

After this mode, Soul Trap will activate.
The Mind Gem

"Surfer! You can fight it!"

Controls: Flipper buttons pushed = lowered position. When let go: raised upward.

The Mind Gem reverses the flippers' POSITIONS, and Surfer is mind-controlled by Thanos. 2 regular balls will be magnetized on the playfield and will randomly move about. The 3rd, BLUE ball must be used to free the magnetized ones for a 3-ball Multiball. Once freed, hit any shots leading to the Gauntlet 5-6 times to collect the Gem. Play controllably, trapping any balls the come towards the flippers. Flip when you need to.

Soul Trap and Ball Save will be activated after the mode ends.
The Reality Gem

"Reality Gem redefines our very concept of being!" - Adam Warlock

The game will turn UPSIDE DOWN on you, so some Black Hole/Haunted House skills should be helpful. Fortunately, there's an Infinite Ball Saver. Your ball will turn YELLOW. You have 30 seconds to restore Reality and collect the gem. Lit shots add 10% and add 5-10 seconds to the clock. Putting the ball in the bumpers freezes time and adds 1% for each hit. If you fail to restore Reality, you have to restart the mode from the beginning.

Soul Trap activates after the mode ends. A short Ball Save is activated as well due to the effects of the mode.
The Power Gem

"These will aid you!" - Adam Warlock

Your ball will turn RED. A "GOD" Statue will block most shots in the center of the field. You must hit the bumpers 30 times to unleash the Powerballs, weaken Thanos, and destroy the statue. Each hit on the statue causes some damage, and sometimes the balls will be destroyed while damaging it. (Luckily, they'll come back.) When it is completely destroyed, all balls will be destroyed, and the Power Gem is yours. A new ball will be replaced after the mode ends. If you fail to preserve at least 2 balls in play, you have to restart from the beginning of the mode.

Soul Trap activates after the mode ends.
The Soul Gem

"So in order to reclaim the Soul Gem, I must relive my trial in Soul World?" - Adam Warlock

Kray-Tor and his 12 Faceless Men keep you from taking the Soul Gem. You must destroy each of the 12 Men before destroying Kray-Tor himself at the top of the playfield. Exit through the top, and the Soul Gem is yours!

If it exits through the bottom, you have to replay it from start.

After this mode, Soul Trap activates.

TRIVIA: This is based on Twilight Zone's Powerfield with magnets acting as flippers.
Monument Multiball
"Death should be revered. Shrines should be built to her!" - Thanos

After destroying the gate and the Monument, you can work to rebuild the Monument. Shoot for the spinners to rebuild it, with each spin adding 1% towards completion. As soon as it reaches 100% completion, any loop will start a 2-Ball Monument Multiball. Jackpots are scored at the Monument at all times. The base value is 500,000 points, with the spinners adding to the base Jackpot value. Simple as that. There is a Jackpot CAP of 1,500,000 points, so you have to claim it in order to build it up again.

When Monument Multiball ends, the gate appears again, and must be destroyed if you wish to make shots towards Infinity Gem modes. (Fortunately, this isn't blocked during any Infinity Gem modes.)
Gauntlet Multiball
"The heavens will run red with blood!" - Thanos

To gain access to this, the ball must hit the Thanos Jets 50 times. (A good combo would be during Soul Trap, so you can get hits while trapping the souls.) The Locks will light at one of the Infinity Gem shots. Once a ball is locked, a new ball is plunged, and the Lock moves to a different shot. Once all 3 balls are locked, Gauntlet Multiball will begin, and Jackpots will light at the same 3 shots.

Once a Jackpot is collected, that shot will be magnetized and stopped if none is lit. You have to hit a flashing Thanos target to relight a Jackpot. The base value is 1,000,000 points, and each flashing Thanos target adds 500,000 to the value. Once collected, it resets to the base value.

Normal gameplay commences once 2 of the 3 balls drain.
Multi-Multiball!!!
Gauntlet Multiball and Monument Multiball? Together? Sweetness. Play with up to 4 BALLS in play, with the Monument guaranteeing a Jackpot, and Infinity Gem Jackpots (what you would normally do during single ball play) add to the fun.

Refer to my video at the beginning of the guide. If you've played some Bram Stoker's Dracula, then you'll know what I'm saying. (Epic triple multiball on that game... (Thiiiirrrrrrrrrrrrttttyyyyy milllion!)
Kiss of Death
"What have I done to deserve such rejection?" - Thanos

By impressing the Mistress of Death at least 10 times, the Kiss of Death will light at the lower right scoop. Sweepstakes can range from big points, to Multiball modes, to lighting the Kickbacks, and Soul Trap. To give out these specific names in order is impossible for me because the rewards go by so quickly, and the fact that there is a time limit of 8 seconds before choosing a reward.
Half of the Universe
"Billions upon billions of souls are blinking out of existance!" -Adam Warlock

When Soul Trap is activated, shoot for the bumpers to trap souls. If you collect an Infinity Gem, shoot for the jets IMMEDIATELY, as the ball will be pulled back into the bumpers for the duration of Soul Trap. You must collect 1 BILLION souls to light Half of the Universe at the lower right scoop. (Don't worry, you don't have to hit them 1 billion times. Souls add up way faster than you think.)

Half of the Universe consists of a 4-ball Multiball with all shots blocked except one. You have a certain amount of Heroes to make this mode last, and making a shot will free a hero, along with unlocking the next shot. You must do this for EACH of these, and the last shot will always be at the Monument. Making that shot will award you with an uncollected Infinity Gem, and the mode will start from the beginning again. Making a 2nd (or more) Monument shot will NOT give you another Gem.

Normal gameplay will resume after Half of the Universe ends.
Thanos Frenzy
"I AM THANOS! I AM SUPREME!" - Thanos

After playing all 6 Infinity Gem modes, the Right Ramp lights for Thanos Frenzy. The ball will be trapped in the bumpers for a few seconds, and Thanos will block your visibility on the lower flippers (sorta like a Tommy mode). Another ball will appear, and 2-ball Multiball will commence for 1 minute. You must make as many shots as you can within that time frame. Successful shots will award you with 1,000,000 points, and add 100,000 points for the next shot (1,100,000 on shot 2; 1,200,000 on shot 3; and so on). Both balls will be destroyed at the end, and your visibility on the lower flipper area returns.

Be VERY CAREFUL on the kickout. You have no idea where that ball will come from, and it might cost your current ball.

This won't be available anymore until you complete Warlock Frenzy. If you have any gems (say 4 you have after completing Thanos Frenzy) that needs collected, then those gems will be remaining until all 6 are collected for Warlock Frenzy.
Warlock Frenzy
~SPOILER ALERT - READ IF YOU DARE!~

You collected all 6 Gems. What to do now? Shoot the Monument Ramp to start the Wizard Mode, Warlock Frenzy.

Here's what's good: Infinite Ball Saver, 4 Ball Multiball, and masses of points!

Bad news: You only have 2 MINUTES to complete the mode. There will be constant annoyances during this mode, such as Reality reversing, balls going out of control, mind-controlled flippers, and Tommy Mode. Fortunately, only one will be present, but will constantly change.

Part 1: Hit any shots towards the Gauntlet (Gauntlet Ramp, Monument Ramp, Upper Playfield Ramp) for a total of 6 times.

Part 2: Hit any Jackpot shots for a total of 15 times.

Part 3: Lock all 4 balls at the Monument Ramp. 10,000,000 for completing the game.

After you win or lose, the Infinity Gems are reset, and you have to work to get to this mode again.
Other Features
Powershots: Accessed via the Gauntlet on the leftmost ramp, toward the left plunger during normal play. The shots will strobe between the Orbit and the HERO targets. Adjust your shot and make one of them to score a random amount of points and count towards lighting an Extra Ball. 5 shots are needed to light Extra Ball.

Impressing the Mistress: The game's combo system. Each combo gives an increasing number of points per succession.

Surfer Mode: 5 Surfboard hits to activate. Hitting the right orbit or the upper left Thanos target will make the Surfer control the ball and hit it towards the right loop, scoring increasing millions. A total of 9 Surf Rides will light Extra Ball.

U-A-T-U: Targets award big points, and the U-A-T-U rollovers score smaller points.

Hero Multiplier: Can be raised up to 10x by hitting the HERO targets. Max the multipliers to light Extra Ball.

Extra Balls: Only 4 can be claimed per game, and that's by Maxing the Multipliers, the Silver Surfer Mode, the Kiss of Death, and Powershot. Can be claimed via Thanos target in the upper field.
Final Thoughts
Somehow, this game is one of my favorites of the Pinball FX 2 games. I don't know why, but it, in some way, has to do with the gameplay... (It's also kinda neat how the ball gets pulled back into the bumpers, making that whoooopp sound.)

My current high score is 780 million. (UPDATE 6/18)

This game has a mix between Demolition Man (Cyro-Claw), Twilight Zone (Powerfield), FunHouse/Road Show (2nd Plunger) and Black Hole/Haunted House (Reality Gem).

I give credit to Zen Studios for making amazing pinball games like this. More pinball is always welcome on Steam.

I hope you enjoyed reading my guide (and watching my video)! Play more pinball!

Impressive, congratulations for the session.

That is semantics. Peter Grafl, the designer for this table, tends to give special names for his kickbacks and ball saves. On Infinity Guantlet, he calls them givebacks and gauntlet saver. On Episode V he calls them pushbacks and saber saver. On Fantastic Four, he calls the balls save the Negative Zone. His method for activating ball saves and kickbacks are usually a little more involved and therefore they all tend to have the same features. The kickbacks tend to not reset when when draining a ball and the ball saver is usually untimed. His tables also tend to feature a lot of stacked modes.

@Glottis, I think you mean the Gauntlet Saver. Thanks for mentioning it.
DadJokesRHowEyeRoll 22 May, 2013 @ 11:20pm
It's not mentioned in the guide but there are kickbacks and a ball save. Activated kickbacks will remain until used (i.e. they will not deactivate if you lose a ball). The ball save is not timed so it is very valuable. The method for collecting both kickbacks and the ball save is the same. There are around 5-6 transparent ramps exiting the gauntlet. One of those lanes will be shimmering with some Tinkerbell fairy dust. You can change which exit ramp is lit by pretty much hitting anything like spinners, lanes, bumpers, etc. When the 2nd lane from the left is shimmering, hit the ball into the gauntlet via left or center ramp (if the monument is down). This will divert the ball to the top left flipper where you will have once chance to hit a cross shot across the table into the mini orbit above the H-E-R-O targets. If you make this shot you will light the left kickback. Rinse and repeat to activate the right kickback and then the ball saver.

Anyone else convinced Kray-Tor is flipping you off in his picture?

Good guide. I find the reality gem with the inverted table to be challenging. An easy tip to defeating this level is lock 2 balls for gauntlet multiball. Don't hit that third lock until you start up this mode. The mode will start, lock that last ball, and stack that gaunlet multiball with the reality mode. It makes it much easier to complete.

For the skillshot, I usually choose to advance the multipliers which helps you collect heroes for the half of the universe mode. Also, I try to complete all the easy missions before starting up half of the universe so that the uncollected gem you earn will be one of the harder missions.

The mind gem with the reversed flippers can be a bit challenging. I think the best scenerio is to get cradle separation with 2 ball trapped with the left flipper and 1 ball on the right. Then use the right flipper to shoot the center monument ramp. If you miss left and hit the spinner the ball will be returned to the right flipper.
