Description
Home is home. For millions around the world, home is a shack, crammed amongst a thousand other shacks, amidst the mud and debris, but it is home, and life in these places perseveres and persists, standing defiantly in the faces of the wealthy up in sky scrapers glancing groundward. While the base game of Cities Skylines celebrates an idealistic view of utopian cities, its important to remember that the real cities of the globe are not all two story houses and gleaming towers.

I actually started working on this series of buildings, 49 total if you count all four collections together, roughly a year and a half ago, and I've been largely absent from the community in that time, just updating two assets and helping with the Monaco video series in the mean time. I haven't just been working on these shanties in that time, I've been working on other personal projects, procrastinating, and even lost access to 3Ds Max (my modeling program) for a few months. In that time a lot of other shanty buildings came out, and youtube series featuring them, and it was silently killing me every time knowing that here I was sitting on all this hard work and not releasing it. So finally I pushed through, and finished. I present to you shanty towns, a RICO collection of ploppable shanty buildings organized into collections of different types. All of these are fairly low poly, and most use 512x512 textures (although some larger ones use 1024x1024.) I really like how they turned out, and I hope you do too. These versions are RICO, but I did originally conceive this series as a set of growables, so that may materialize at some point in the future. Thank you all for your support, its what keeps me coming back!

This set contains 10 buildings.

@creepyeyes thanks. Yes I have the Rico mod installed, and I can see them there. But I can not make them spawn in normal residential. I have to plop them down manually.

You should install the RICO mod, and then you can find them in the RICO menu. They would show up as parks otherwise

Thanks for the response. Does the category they are in, ie Park in this instance, make all the difference. Since I can not see them in theme manager either. Just wondering if they were classified as some sort of buildings whether then they would be visible in Theme manager.

@Hagar Correct, RICO works as ploppable assets only, unless someone has created a mod that I'm not aware of (which is possible, it's been a long time since I played this game.)

I like the assets, but I can not add them to a style or theme.. maybe I don't understand the RICO concept properly. I have a very large suburb to simulate where all the houses are cookie cutters and placing them one by one is not going to happen.

@m4gic did you ever get to making a style with these shanty props? it is something I am really really looking for.

DL'd all your creations. Many of them require an asset "Shanty Tiny Trash Pile"
However, i cannot find this so none of your assets are loading.
Can you link it here, or tell us where to find it please?

Do you mind if I use ModTools to make these simple growable assets and create a Collection and Style including these and similar assets and link to your original models, crediting you as the maker?

Many people do not use the RICO mod and may never get to enjoy your models unless they're made more accessible as growable assets and included in an easy to use District Style.

I am happy to put the time in to do it if you're ok with it.

Good work my dude! Subscribing all of these and putting them in the slums of the undereducated and underfunded!
