If you go through the youtube video above, you can download a .rar of this that works by using the snd_rebuildaudiocache loophole. I have no idea how to get this functioning as a VPK, so if some kind soul out there has any idea how to get it working, do let me know. In the mean time, following the instructions in the .rar (NOT SUBSCRIBING TO THIS MOD) will get you what appears in the video. Fully functional, works in any campaign.

I've tried for literal hours, but the L4D2 alarm sound is about a second long, and regardless of what you do with the audio cache it will, at best, play one second of my replacement sound when I try to do this with a VPK. I can hack it to work in specific maps in single player, but that fix doesn't carry over into multiplayer.

I apologize in advance for uploading something that isn't 100% working but I figured maybe this would be the place to work out the issue since I really have no idea what the solution is.

The answer to that is in the description on this page from 5 years ago. For reasons I was unable to diagnose, rebuilding the audio cache doesn't have the same effect on VPK audio files as it does with straight up file replacements. It seems that audio files in VPKs still inherit the duration of the default sound.

I couldn't figure it out, but manually installing it works fine. If you wanted to try, you can subscribe to this mod and attempt to rebuild the audio cache yourself and see whether or not it works for you.

Why not just upload the actual mod as a VPK and ask users to use the snd_rebuildaudiocache method instead? That would make more sense instead of having to click on a link in a video description, only to then manually install the mod and then proceed to rebuild the audio cache.

If you check the youtube video, there are manual install files that should still work if you follow the instructions.

I found this mod many months ago, the links in the video description don't work. There are comments on the video from years ago saying they didn't work then, which leads me to believe this mod was useless a few months after it was made, which sucks.
