I max Nether Ward early to keep the carry+supports from using spells on me, both because of the mana drain and damage. It then turns offlane into a fun game of "find the Nether Ward", interrupting farming/stacking/pulling/ganking or whatever else they wanted to do. Aether Lens is core. It makes it easier to plant Nether Ward in hard-to-reach places, easier to take towers with Nether Blast from a safer distance, and much easier to execute a full duration Life Drain. After that I like Aghs + Heart.
