Unlike the prequels, Kaiju Princess 2 focus more on the explore + collect ingredients + cooking gameplay combined with time management and visual novel. And also don't play this game when you're hungry, unless you're a masochist. The way this game present foods will trigger your inner foodie, from the mouth watering looking drawing of dishes, to how over the top our Pink haired bottomless stomach monster girl aka Poochi Q describe the delicious foods, will make your stomach growl.

For the story, you're a wanted criminal on the run from basically space popo. While on the run, you met Poochi Q, a pink haired monster girl with a personality of a golden retriever and the attention span of a gold fish that is always hungry, she personally searched for you just to eat your tasty cooking, in exchange she will protect you from whoever after your tail. Also since each Kaijuu Princess will represent one of the Seven Deadly Sins stated in one of the letters from the devs, so our Poochi Q must be representing Gluttony considering how all she cares about is eating.

Gameplay is pretty simple, Kaiju Princess series always has simple gameplay while being cute and unique. For KP2 it's still a time management game like other two prequels, but instead of going around and conquering places, you explore planets, fight enemies, collect materials, and cook foods. And the rest is spending time and improve relationship with your waifu, like usual.

The character design of Poochi Q is very adorable and cute, annoyingly cute to be exact, it's like looking at a puppy. Not only that her amazing voice actress really makes her annoying, energetic, childish, playful, and carefree personality even more believable and lovable. I think Poochi Q doesn't really fit into the bratty category with her personality, finally we have someone to break the bratty waifus streak haha, she just really likes to goofing around and being overly dramatic. And like other Kaiju Princesses we have come across, she is also heart-meltingly sweet. And of course if you've played the previous Kaiju Princess games, you'll also be satisfied by the quality of the CGs, the quality is just chef's kiss, no pun intended.

After finished this game, I have to say that I was lost in deep thought. Yes, Kaiju Princess 2 for most part is a lighthearted game with a happy ending. But KP2 is not just a shallow NSFW game, the story of this game is very in-depth and can be very philosophical and emotional. After some digging and comparing, I came across a review that pointed out the game’s inspiration is from a 4000-year-old ancient literature called "Epic of Gilgamesh", which explores the themes of mortality and immortality. Playing through this game, I got reminded of how small and fragile us human are, time and death are inevitable.

Also I find this game incredibly relatable, the story shows you why the characters behave the way they're realistically and humanly through stories of regret, traumatic past, and moving on from the past. During my playthrough, I found the heroine's story really resonate with me, as I also once did something stupid to someone important to me, even though it's nothing serious, but the guilt still haunts me to this day. No matter how much I tried to apologize, what was done has already been done, it's irreversible. All I could do is to learn from it and keep moving on, that's the only way and the best way to show that person that I'm genuinely sorry, that incident shaped me into who I am today. The voice actress really played an important part in making this game so impactful, for through out the game she makes a lot of weird annoying childish sounds, and when you getting familiar with those noises, the sudden disappearance of Poochi Q made the whole game feels like an empty void, I immediately realized it was her that makes this little space ship floating across the vast empty space feels like home. And when you finally see her again, it was not the playful noises she normally makes that greeted your ears, but it was a uncontrollable gut wrenching cry and sobbing of guilt and regret, accompanied by images of her crying her eyes out and sad music. As I played through the climactic - unraveling the truth part of the game, I found myself unable to hold back the tears.

In short, Kaiju Princess 2 is an amazing game with an emotional story and fun gameplay that will worth your every cent. Not only that KP2 has double the amount of contents, which took me around 20 hours to finish. I can't wait for what will the devs bring next to the table for the Kaiju Princess series.


And I'm deeply grateful to the devs for creating such a beautiful game with an adorable heroine, who probably is the first ever fictional character that I can emotionally relate with, one that can make a person like me a bit less lonely.
