I had seen reviews raving about this game and its predecessor so I decided to buy it during a sale to see if it was something I'd enjoy. I was initially hesitant because I rarely play pixel art games. I'll be honest; I didn't like the game. I can't say that I hated it, but it just wasn't my cup of tea. I understand that others might find it enjoyable, but it was tedious to me. I'm the type of person who will try to complete a game's achievements as much as possible, if not fully, before I move on. That's precisely what I did. I'm writing this review after having unlocked the last achievement. I can say that I did my time and swiftly uninstalled the game, never to play it again. Once more, it's not a bad game, but I can't give it 5 stars.

I enjoy fighting games on a casual level and neither take nor have the time to practice, so take this review for what it is.

This is the second time I've bought Tekken 8, the first being for the PS5. The visuals are stunning. I don't want to start any franchise wars but I will say that the characters look much better than their Street Fighter 6 counterparts.

Again, I bought this game a second time because I enjoy completing achievements for the game I buy and since I had already gotten them all for PS5, I figured why not on PC. Was able to get them all within a week as I already knew what to do from my previous playthrough.

I know a lot of people are complaining about the plugging issue but since I don't play online matches, I can't say anything regarding that problem.

All in all, a good 8/10.

I know this game wasn't as well received as the RE2 remake, but even with the content that was cut and a somewhat off-putting attitude adjustment to Jill, the game was still fun. Inferno difficulty was a nice challenge and figuring out a way to beat Nemesis at the end felt rewarding.

I'm writing this review after the RE4 remake was released and this game doesn't hold a candle to RE4R but nevertheless, one shouldn't pass up this game just because of its less-than-favorable reputation.

I just finished all of the achievements and I have to say that I LOVED this game!

Here are my thoughts on Tormented souls:
  • Amazing atmosphere! I was on the edge of my seat during the entirety of my first playthrough. The jumpscares were minimal but effective. It's the overall dread of seeing what's around the corner that would make me slowly inch around the corner until the camera angle changed.
  • Puzzles were very fun! They really make you think and you'll only need to look up the solutions if you simply can't figure it out, which is not a bad thing.
  • I've heard that the lack of scenes and the voice acting leaves something to be desired. I don't know why people are complaining about that when the OG Resident Evil had worse voice acting. For an indie developer, I'm not going to hold it against them.
  • I was a bit upset at the lack of unlockables at the end of the game, but considering you can obtain an extra weapon from the very beginning, so long as you know where to look, I'm fine with it. The same goes for lack of different difficulties. You're definitely going to learn your way around the map and enemy locations, so you'll be able to dispatch of the enemies much easier.

Having said this, my ONLY complaint was regarding the iron door knocker. While the puzzle itself isn't too complicated, anyone who doesn't have a sense of rhythm is going to struggle with it. This can be particularly annoying when you're trying to finish the game under 3 hours. The longest it took for me to get the door to open was 5 minutes, which in and of itself is too long to get a knocking pattern right.

Overall, this was a great game and I liked it so much that I even got a copy of it for the PS5 so I could get the trophies all over again.

I'm excited for Tormented Souls 2 this year!

I have been a fan/supporter of NLT Media since their very first game; Visiting Aunt Sara. I even got to play this game as it was being developed through Patreon, so I was very happy to see that it became available on Steam.

This game is A LOT of fun. I enjoyed the fact that even though it retains a strong connection to the previous game's story, it's still able to present a story of its own. Without spoilers, I was quite pleased with all of the twists and turns the plot takes towards the end.

Of course, having played the game in its entirety before it was on Steam, I'll admit that I used a walkthrough AND a money/item mod. Despite doing so, you can see from my hours played that the game still takes a LOOOONG time to complete. Again, I was already familiar with the story and while I didn't skip any of the dialogue, I was trying to rush to the end and earn all of the achievements.

I'm not joking when I say that NLT is among the top creators of adult games. The models and sex scenes are top tier. There is a female character for pretty much all tastes. Personally, I love Janet and Naomi. You don't realize how invested you become with all the characters, including the males, throughout your playthrough until that bittersweet feeling hits you when the final scenes start to play.

Now that The Genesis Order is available here, I'm really looking forward to seeing what's next. I can't recommend this game enough. All "play with one hand jokes aside," this is a really fun game and worth every penny!

I enjoyed my time with this game. I was able to get all of the achievements in one weekend.

However, it still needs a lot of polishing to be considered a good game. While not exactly difficult, there were several mechanics that would make certain sections of the game a bit frustrating. One of the more frustrating aspects was whenever I would try to get close to an enemy and do a low hit, the game would register it as me wanting to push the enemy away in order to break its guard. If I'm trying to get close to hit them, why would I want to push them away?! It's not like breaking their guard is helpful since you end up pushing them too far to follow up with an attack. The same goes for the dodge roll. If I'm rolling behind the enemy, it would make sense for character to recover from the roll by facing the enemy. I don't know why I have to do an extra input to turn my character in order to face the enemy. By then, the enemy would have turned around and hit more or they would have rolled away!

Most of the bosses were fair, but a couple, like the Witch and Necromancer, would stun lock you by throwing projectiles at you non-stop. I guess the most annoying one was the Dragon's fire breath which would kill you in one hit.

I understand that this has elements of a dungeon crawler, but damn! The later levels required a guide to get through them, especially with how much backtracking you have to do in order to collect every artifact and/or rescue all the maidens.

My only regret is that I picked Rahaan as my first playthrough. I thought there would be more character-specific achievements but it's only one per character and you can get those on the very first level. I would have preferred to play as Sheyna.

If this developer makes some sort of sequel, I hope they make some big improvements because there is potential here.

Where to begin with this game? Well, it should be abundantly clear by the lack of reviews, discussions, and overall community interaction that this game is nothing more than a tech demo, if it could even be called that.

However, I'm not going to dance around things and merely list everything wrong with this game:

1. The controls are not properly assigned, meaning that you're going to have to play around with the settings before you even hope to start the game. (Hint: the U, I, J, and K keys are your main face buttons)
2. Frame rates are choppy as hell! It's like the developers forgot to include about 2-3 frames of animation in between character movement.
3. For some odd reason the audio in two of the eight stages of Arcade Mode seems to be higher than the rest of the game's audio. If you're wearing headphones while playing this, prepare to have your eardrums suddenly punctured by screeching music!
4. The game's manual seems to advertise 1-2 alternate costumes for each character, but during my playthrough, I found no discernible way to unlock these costumes, let alone select them.
5. Hit detection is a mess. You could be standing right against your opponent punching and kicking at them as if your life depended on it and 80% of the time your hits won't register. You're better off spamming fireballs to actually cause damage.
6. Most of the time, the opponent won't fall to the ground after you've beaten them. Most of the time they'll just stay standing while your character does its win pose and the next round starts.
7. Going off the previous point; if you want the match to move on, you have to stop hitting the opponent at the end of the round because you could spam fireballs forever and it would continue to hit the opponent, even if their lifebar is already empty.
8. Endings are comprised of a single image and some extremely small text. It doesn't help that the letters have a red glow around them, making it that much harder to read.

With all that said; is it a good game? No.
Is it worth the $2? Probably not.
Are the achievements easy to unlock? Yes.

Honestly, it's only worth playing to have a 100% complete game in your library. 90% of the achievement will unlock through normal progression, with only 2 or 3 secret achievements that might be a bit hard to unlock if you don't know what to look for (HINT: check out the one and only achievement guide for this game written by me!)

I guess the last thing to say is that this game tries to appeal to anyone that gets off on 3D softcore images. With 7 of the 8 characters being female and the one male's moveset comprised of turning into the other female fighters and using their moves a la Shang Tsung (from MK), it's clear that the developers wanted to lure players in with "sexy" fighters.

Trust me, there is ZERO nudity in this game. The most skin you'll ever see is during the Sacrifice (this game's version of a fatality) animations when one of the female's body will slump over and her ass is shown, or a little bit of cameltoe is teased through their panties/spandex. I can't imagine anyone getting halfway stiff over that, especially when those same animations depict the bodies torn in half and there's blood all around. I mean, if that's your thing, then you've found the perfect game.

I bought this game on the PS5 first. Since I was having fun with the story and the achievements seemed relatively doable, I decided to buy it on Steam.

I don't know why I thought performance would be the same as a PS5's. Now, I'm no PC master race enthusiast; I only have a Steam Deck to play this game on, but 30 FPS is very annoying! The loading times make grinding for kameo XP feel longer than on the PS5. The invasions section would very often crash. The seasonal tower would glitch at the end where after the "Finish Him!" came on and I executed the final hit, somehow the match would continue. Since the timer was already stopped, there was nothing for me to do other than exit out of the match and lose my tower progress. Sometimes even doing long combos would cause the game to freeze, meaning that I had to force shutdown the game. Also, the graphics would sometimes drop to the point where I thought I was playing the Switch version of the game!

Honestly, if you just HAVE to play this game, buy it on either PS5 or Xbox Series X.

This is the second review I've written for this type of game. The only difference is that I played this game on my desktop PC instead of the Steam Deck. With that in mind, if you absolutely MUST play these types of games do so on a desktop or laptop because the use of a mouse makes each puzzle easier to get through rather than using the joysticks. You have to move all the jumbled pieces to the sides, which takes up most of your playtime. There's a total of 12 puzzles and it took me 45 minutes to get through all of them in one sitting. Like I also said on my other review; you should wait for these to go on a major sale, preferably in bulk, to justify the purchase.

When I bought this "game" I didn't know that it was essentially a tech demo for the full game; Bright Memory Infinite. I guess I should have known what I was getting into when I saw the word "trailer" on the "New Game" option.

Now, let me say that, while I found the overall game to be tedious, there is hope that Infinite will be an improved version of this. I really liked the graphics, save for some wonky physics such as Shelia's alternate outfit's skirt glitching through her body or Carter's uncanny stare. The feeling of the guns, primarily the handgun and rifle/SMG, was quite satisfying.

I'm going to simply list the cons:
1. "Story" makes no sense. Again, I know this is a demo, but the cutscenes give you zero explanation of what's going on. There is actually more story building material in the game's description than the game itself.
2. Enemies are bullet sponges, especially the bosses. Several times I had to allow myself to get killed simply because I reached one of the two bosses with little more than a couple magazines.
3. Hitboxes are ridiculous. It was infuriating when I took damage from a hit that was nowhere near me. The same goes for enemy hitboxes. It's better to leave the "auto aim" option on.
4. The sword play function, while somewhat fun, felt like a secondary thought because your [let's call it] "stamina" gauge drained way too fast and will take about 10 seconds to recharge. Also, you better use all the available strikes when you begin to strike with your sword because if you so much as do a dodge and try to resume the sword strikes, the game won't allow you to strike even though you'll see that you still have some "stamina" left.
5. The EMP function is just a gimmick. I didn't find it to be helpful at all during combat. The same goes for the "time freeze" ability.
6. I played this on a Steam Deck and the game crashed way, way, way too much! It got to a point where I was afraid to open the skill upgrade menu because doing so would cause the game to freeze, thus forcing me to force shutdown the game. Also, during loading screens the game also froze whether it was because I died and the checkpoint was reloading or if I voluntarily reloaded a checkpoint to attempt the Killer Combo achievement.

TLDR; nice tech demo but you'd be better off buying the full game; Bright Memory Infinite.
