A short but solid story set in a post-apocalyptic universe under robotic rule - a premise I'll probably never get tired of, especially when it involves giant autonomous machines, mysterious ruins, and the inexorable return of nature, all of which are so well done in animated / digital art form. Although this is a kinetic VN and the storyline is fairly linear and predictable in parts, the overall writing, visuals, and soundtrack proved well worth my time (and kicked me in the gut with that ending, to boot). Honestly, I'd love to see more stories set in this universe, even if they're not prequels or sequels to this VN, which proved to be a very good standalone. And though I'd gladly buy the soundtrack on the spot, I can't seem to find it anywhere outside this game, so I'll probably be keeping it around for the music alone, and maybe an eventual replay or two.

Best way to play Sudoku hands down, even if the larger puzzles can be a little more difficult. The cute cat stickers, meows, and trivia made this well worth it!

Really cool liminal-aesthetic game - although there's very little in the way of controls and objectives, that actually worked better for me, since wandering through and exploring the impossible architecture and creepy shadowed spaces is something I've always wanted to do, without any of the jump scares I've come to expect from backrooms-type games. (Honestly, I wish my nightmares looked more like this lol.)

Would highly recommend turning off head bobbing and VHS mode though, if you're prone to eye strain and motion sickness like me. If the options didn't exist, I probably couldn't play this for more than 10-15 minutes at a time. And having them off really allows the Unreal Engine 5 contribution to shine through, from the beautiful water reflections to the strange lighting and realistic wall textures. Looking forward to more levels being added, and I hope the developers consider marking this game as Early Access so some of the more nitpicky reviewers don't use that against them.

Simply THE BEST story-driven hacking simulator I've played to date. Taking place in a 21st-century alternate reality, the crimes and social issues this game explores are as relevant as ever, made that much more chilling and realistic with advanced tech, and it's not afraid to enter dark territory (Chapter 4 being especially hard to play through, the faint of heart be warned). But playing as an AI, uncovering different people's secrets and struggles, and seeing a societal plight slowly unfold over time, gives you the foundation to either break free of this dystopian chain - or become its final link. I can't applaud the writing enough, and on top of that there's awesome voice acting, an impeccable interface, engaging and user-friendly mechanics, a great OST, and even Easter eggs for the more curious of us. Honestly, this game deserves way more than the 9.99 price tag it asks for (at the time of writing); I'd gladly pay 25+ for such a high-quality production.

More notes on production: I loved the UI of every database, search engine, messaging app, and social media platform used in this game, even if the names were often expected goofy versions of real ones (Toothbook, Gogo, Readit, Sdeam, and Gomail to name a few). The dedication to making them look and perform the same as their actual namesakes was amazing, and I bet these guys could roll out real, functioning versions of these apps if they so desired. Then there was the meticulous detail with character drawings, animations, and personality-specific texts - the latter of which is so often skimped on in simulation-type games. The highlighting function, though it required me to hover over everything, also forced me to pay close attention to what I combed through and made it really satisfying to uncover clues. And finally the sheer variety of available clues, across so many different possible sources, really made the "hacking" aspect immersive and realistic. Heck, I even came across good ol' Nmap in one of the minigames, which was a pleasant surprise.

Anyways, tl;dr this is an amazing game and a veritable steal whether it's on discount or full price - if you want an engaging, story-driven, detective/hacker experience with a hearty dash of dystopia, this is absolutely the game for you. It will be every bit as depressing as you might expect (and maybe more), but the choices available to you make a huge difference in the end, and it sets the bar extremely high for everything else in this genre.

P.S. Because it killed me every time his name popped up - long live Eson Mulk!!

The colored artwork was definitely a bonus and was a delight to look at, even if it made some of the cats harder to find. Also loved the music. Should've played this during Christmas season!

Love the drawings, the meows, and the relaxing music. And of course, the recurrence of cat balls in this series will never cease to amuse me.

Cute and easy cat game, just like all the others I've played before. Wasn't expecting to see cat balls while looking for them though! Lol

Sad to say that I had to refund this. The premise seemed solid based on the store page - trying to piece together clues to someone's disappearance when you only have their phone - and the general interface was well done, but that was about it. My first hour of playing this mostly consisted of:

  • Listening to overdramatic, very slowly worded voice messages.
  • Piecing together "corrupted" pictures and texts that had absolutely nothing to do with Anna's disappearance.
  • Wondering if a proofreader was ever used for this game. Most of the articles and texts gave me the impression that English isn't the developer's first language. While I have nothing against that, coming across awkward grammar really took the immersion out of a mostly text-based game.
  • Sitting through consecutive rounds of text-vomit finger-pointing from Greg and Taylor. I truly detest people who text at a rate of 50 messages/min when a single sentence would have sufficed. I didn't think it could get any worse, but in came the relationship drama...
  • An overall disconnect between the gameplay and the plot. A girl disappears with clear hints of some non-human entity behind it, so why am I wasting my time investigating the sorry backgrounds of two garden-variety losers?

Maybe the game gets better beyond the 1.7-hour point, but I really didn't have the patience to sit through constant notifications from the Male MC Idiot Express while waiting for some actual horror story to happen. Honestly, I'd have been happier to just shut the damn phone off and actually set out to find Anna door to door. At least then the "investigation" would have felt more productive.

Super glad I got this, and it's practically a steal for its price point, if you're looking solely for an aesthetic productivity app. The music was amazing, especially the cyberpunk playlist, which had the perfect vibes for the story I've been trying to write. I also loved the art and customization options, and the only things I haven't found myself using were the world chat and letters, since I don't really care about socializing in games. Although this has the same functionality as Spirit City, the music and aesthetic really make it a worthy companion.
