Review written on 21 September 2023, subject to change in the future.

I've been waiting for this game to be released today. Eventually, it released and I was able to download it. Once launched, I had to make an account on nebula, which was an inconvenience as everyone else was also trying to make an account, servers being either very laggy or down. It is silly how you are supposed to have an account connected to Steam yet still be stuck in main menu.

I played a few matches and then...servers down again. And we do not have any sort of eta as to when this will be fixed. What's funny is that the game does not even tell you that there are server issues. They will leave you searching for a match for hours and blue ball you.

I do not comprehend how lazy gaming development is nowadays, developers have no interest in mitigating possible future issues. Did the devs not predict the player base count on day 1? Instead they decided to release the game to the public in such state, get the money and then maybe fix the issues in the future, while gamers have to wait and not able to make use of what they paid for.

As the game currently stands, I cannot recommend this game. It feels that the real payday heist is done by Starbreeze, rather than the virtual characters on their game.

Edit 22 of September: Game's still not functional. Issues with servers started around european evening time. This leads me to believe that there's a server load issue. I also found out recently they had in fact 2 separate Beta stress tests. They had opportunities to use Steam servers etc to host the game. Big companies with powerful infrastructure. They instead decided to host the game on their own servers for some reason, all the while cheaping out on server costs. What did they think it will happen, exactly?

I believe that all the criticism they receive is valid, and yes, you SHOULD review games based on your experience. Even if the reviews are negative, it will surely help other users better understand what they are paying for. Not reviewing and being "patient" will only help those scammers get away with leeching loads of money from a player base. Don't be that guy, you won't get any benefits from blindly supporting disgusting behaviour, especially after around 10 years of development.
