To start off, this doesn't feel like a Dragon Age game. It lacks the overall grittiness that the previous installments had. Veilguard looks far more smooth, almost cartoonish, in comparison to the others. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it just sets it apart from dao, da2, and dai in a weird way.

I know I was just complaining about how smooth is was, but I do like the visuals overall. Of course it has been 10 years since inquisition, so of course the graphics are going to improve. The improvements to the character creator and overall lighting are refreshing. It's definitely not the best character creator, but compared to the previous dragon ages, it's a major improvement. While the maps have been small, even linear, so far, I don't mind it. I do hope that the map size doesn't impact how many hours I plan on putting into this game. The combat is also not terrible. It is a departure from the tactical style that has been associated with the Dragon Age games, but it's not the worst.

What happened to the lore? Previous choices? Of course there's the inquisitor, but what about the other two games that came before? It feels a bit sad that those previous choices seem to have no bearing anymore. I understand that a lot of time has passed in the dragon age world since the events of origins and 2, but it makes me a little sad nonetheless. I am also not loving the dialogue so far. It's feeling a little too corny and I am only 4 hours in at the time of writing this review.

I am going to give this game a positive review, but I would not buy it at the current price. Even with it going from $70 to $60. I would say this is a game to get when it goes on sale. I am liking it so far though. If any of my thoughts change, I will update this.

I really enjoyed how relaxing this game was. I do with that it was a bit longer, but I still found the story enjoyable.
