One of the best $1 purchases in my life.

I knew this game is highly praised and that it's a platformer, but before diving into it, I had no particular expectations. I was pleasantly surprised, of course.

Simple, but yet working story. Pleasant and cute pixel-art graphics. I liked the variety of levels and their visuals. Soundtrack is amazing. I liked the funny "voicing" of characters. Gameplay is simple in terms of controls/buttons, but very addicting and challenging.

I like that the game gives a player freedom - you can pretty much skip all the collectables, you can even play with assist and just enjoy the journey. But, if you are interested in a challenge, you can try and collect all the stuff, you can play a set of hard levels, after that play another set of even harder levels. You can try to speed run the game etc. It took me 18 hours to beat 8 chapters and collect some stuff, but I do realize that the time spent on this game can easily reach 50 or more hours. The amount of content and gameplay is immense, considering the price.

Before this game, I didn't really have any substantial experience with platformers, but I enjoyed Celeste a lot. Will strongly recommend this game.

In its current state I can't recommend this game. I will change my review to positive, if things mentioned below will also change

Gameplay
I am a Heat system hater. I think that Heat system feels completely alien to Tekken, adds nothing substantial to the game, and has no depth. There is too much Heat; a free full bar every round leads to "routinely" feeling, it doesn't feel like you are entering a special mode, because you do it every round for free.

I remember before the game release Harada was telling how with Heat system he can finally appreciate and play King, because he is more interesting with this system and truly transforms into something else. That is a lie. Majority of the characters have almost nothing unique (or this unique stuff is just not worth it, or also available normally, like installs) in Heat, except for Dash/Smash and some spamming to inflict more cheap damage. Of course there are exceptions (Kazuya's devil mode, Kuma's electric), but universal Heat mechanics are just way too strong, which leads to a lot of cases when rounds just feel kinda samey.

Also, the amount of literal pushing, like when Dragunov uses his Heat smash and pushes you several character lengths even on block, is just laughable.

Increased amount of jailing stuff, some ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up hitboxes and tracking/re-alignment, and overall balancing just add more salt to the wound.

Online
A lot of people seem to ♥♥♥♥ on T8 net code, but I don't think it is that bad, at least in my experience. IMO it doesn't feel better or worse compared to T7, but of course it's nothing special if compared to SF6.

Ranked system is trash, complete garbage. We effectively have 21–22 ranks, and not 30+, cause first 9 ranks are basically not real, they don't exist, you can't lose points there. Artificial push to Fujin rank with a sudden spike in difficulty after. Win streak bonuses are way too big, immediate promo after demo, one and done is literally encouraged. No placement matches. And a cherry on top - prowess shenanigans. I am not a high rank, I don't play several characters, so I didn't encounter any problems with it YET. But don't you think using a metric that never goes down for a ranked mode is kinda dumb?

Monetization
The game costs full AAA price and has paid season passes. AFTER the release, when the game got its initial ratings and reviews, devs added a cash shop and a battle pass without telling about it beforehand. I hope I don't need to explain how scummy it is. The content of said shop and battle pass is not very good, and feels like a low effort attempt to earn more money. As a consequence of shop/battle pass introduction the base customization got butchered pretty hard.

Also, the game has a legit inbuilt advertisement, as a consequence of collaborations with Nike/Chipotle/Uniqlo. It is subtle, but still kinda a bad sign and adds nothing to the game.

Content
Edit: after some thoughts I think this game is not worth it for it's full retail price. If you want to buy it still, do it during a sale. I legit think the game just doesn't have enough content considering the money they ask even for the base game. Don't even think about Deluxe/Ultimate, it's a waste of money.

Story mode is underwhelming, I expected more from it. Cinematics are nice, of course, but story is trash, Mishima bloodline feud continues again, have fun fighting Kaz another bunch of times, cause devs have nothing better to offer. "Believe in your heart" moment was terrible, like, it wasn't even funny.

Arcade quest felt okay, seems like a good introduction to the game for new players, but I can't say how actually effective it is as a tutorial.

Classic arcade mode and Character episodes are nothing special, very short and easy matches with AI opponents, for ♥♥♥♥♥♥ rewards (yes, character cinematics were kinda bad)

Aforementioned modes are also one time thing basically, they offer no replayability at all.

Tekken ball, never really played it, but I know that an online Tekken ball match is accessible only through Lounge, which is a questionable design choice.

Tekken lounge. Clearly was created as an attempt to have something similar to SF lounge. Never was interested in it, because I don't understand why would you want some intermediate layer between you being in the menu and actual online match. Can't say if it's good or bad. But it seems that some amount of people unironically chilling in those lounges, even though it feels like they exist in completely separate "bubble".

Ghost battles seem much more interesting than battles against regular bots. You can download Ghost of any player, which is nice.

Practice mode and replay system are amazing.

Graphics, music etc
To my taste the game looks nice, I like character models, even though I can agree with some critique, that males look too buff, and females lack expressiveness and some facial features. Stages look good. Overall, the game runs well on my machine, and I think it never crashed for me (talking about Polaris errors).

Music is nice mostly, but after some time I switched the majority of T8 tracks to music from older Tekken games. Jukebox is amazing btw, that is the feature which I actually can appreciate and say "Thank you developers"

P. S.
I still will continue to play this game, because I am dumb enough to hope that it will get better. And for those who are annoyed by "complaining" and adepts of "Don't play it, if you don't like it" - it is normal to criticize the game and play it at the same time, you know? I want to love this game, but so far devs did mostly the wrong decisions IMO.

There are some rough edges, but overall I enjoyed this game

I'll start with the problems. The game likes to stutter often, there aren't much graphics settings, and the game have some weird relationships with mouse support, cause the first time I launched the game my mouse cursor was stuck, and I couldn't move it to certain parts of the screen. Additionally, the mouse cursor was disappearing sometimes when I was talking to Vulgrim, and I had to close the dialog window and re-open it.

I really like the art style of fantasy elements in Darksiders games, but I really hate these urban levels on Earth. They are ugly, all these concrete boxes with windows, I understand that this is how a modern day megapolis looks like, you can't do an apocalypse without them, but it just makes the game levels look boring. I remember I had the same problem in Nier Automata. And I think Darksiders 2 was better in that regard, it contained mostly fantasy levels which were just more stylized and looked prettier.

Gameplay was okay. I like the emphasis on exploration, it is almost always rewarded. I liked level structure, how areas are almost seamlessly transition from one into another. Liked the use of different hollow abilities for level traversal and exploration. Progression is pretty straightforward, but I was just stuck with whip and fire hollow weapon, didn't really feel the urge of using anything else. But maybe I was just a dumbass for not exploring other weapons. Also, I would agree with a common criticism that boss fights were kinda lame.

Music was okay, but not really memorable. Some pieces of Darksiders 2 OST really stuck with me, can't say the same about this game.

I liked the main character a lot, actually. I think not a lot of studios and devs can make good female characters, but I think they did a great job with Fury.

Overall, I am impressed with how this game actually plays, because I have a feeling the devs didn't really have a lot of money, but they did a good job. Hope to see more of Darksiders universe in the future, it deserves more recognition and love in my opinion.

I wish Steam would allow me to have a "neutral" review without thumbs up or down, because in case of Doom Eternal there is a lot to like, but also criticize. And despite me criticizing the game further, i just can't call it a bad game.

Firstly, the game feels less gritty and dark, but more vibrant and "arcady" compared to Doom 2016. Not saying it's bad, it's just different, but I think I liked the grounded approach of 2016 more. Inclusion of some fantasy elements like Sentinel warriors, swords and castles is not a surprise, I think it's natural if you go deeper with Hell/Divinity lore and such. The game looks good graphically wise and runs really well.

I didn't like the inclusion of platforming at all. Nothing hard about it, it's just annoying. I think having some kind of platforming for secret hunting and simple ledge grabbing is okay, but forcing the player to perform jump exercises with burning chains and falling platforms, like it's a Mario game, while advancing through a level - is just silly and a waste of player's time. Not saying anything about portals/jump/launch pads on arenas, those are completely fine.

Gameplay. Overall it's fine, it's nice, it's much faster compared to Doom 2016, and number of demons on arenas is higher I feel like. But I really wasn't a fan of this forced gameplay loop of chainsaw/flame belch/glory kill, because of limited amount of resources on arenas. You can't just move around gather said resources and be fine, your ammo will end fast, you have less ammo compared to the 2016 game and there are more enemies, so at some point you will be forced to go and hunt those small pleb demons (because you can't chainsaw bigger demons if you don't have 3 pips) to restore your ammo and health. Because of it those smaller demons, like imps and soldiers, are spawning endlessly if you don't kill key enemies of an arena (understandable, so you don't get soft locked without ammo), but it is really annoying, cause many times I was just getting blocked by them, and I was getting stuck. Also, it was problematic at times to keep track of all those mechanics. You want to punch your way out of smaller demons, but you don't have a blood punch charged, you are getting stuck and killed. At the same time, I liked the emphasis on using certain weapons against certain enemies, like shooting off spider's turret with precision bolt, using rocket launcher lock-on against whiplash, or shotgun grenade against cacodemons. That is a good example of enforcing usage of all the arsenal. Some arenas felt very claustrophobic which I didn't like, and that purple sludge that locks you from any movement except walking.... That is not fun, dear devs, it's just insanely annoying.

Music in the main game was good, and it sad that Mick Gordon won't work with id Soft or Bethesda anymore. The story was simple, easy to follow I would say, it just worked.

Having cheats as secrets that you can use while replaying levels is nice.

I didn't like DLCs at all. They were hard for the sake of being hard, and for some reason I think they were really boring. Probably I was just tired of the gameplay overall (played both Doom 2016 and Eternal, one after another), so in "The Holt" level I just switched to easy difficulty, even though I beat both main games and first two levels of TAG 1 on Nightmare. Not at any moment in the main game I felt like lowering the difficulty or dropping the game, but felt it for DLCs. Also, they made lore and plot much more convoluted for literally no reason, it felt awful. The next game being a prequel is for the better in that regard

Also, why are there so many Slayer skins, when you can see him only in the cutscenes? Why not add more unlockable skins for guns in single-player, considering you look at them 95% of your playtime?

P.S. I don't even care about multiplayer in this game, but how there is no classic deathmatch in such a game? Weird

10 ripped in half imps with a berserk power up out of 10

I really enjoyed this game. It is a fast-paced, simple, engaging and overall fun shooter game. Atmosphere is very well-made - it's brutal and gritty, and I overall dig this "demon invasion in sci-fi setting" thing. The design of demons and environments, animations of ripping said demons - everything looks good.

I think there is no reason to even talk about OST, everyone who is a gamer heard it and knows that music in this game is insane and perfectly fits and contributes to everything what is happening on screen.

The game is not very long, I played on Nightmare difficulty, and it took me 12 hours to beat it, perfect. Also, even in 2024 game looks kinda nice graphically wise.

Definitely recommend it. The game is just badass

It's a very good game, would def recommend it.

Looks pretty, plays fun, has enough of variance in levels and mechanics. Was happy to see more dynamic chunks of gameplay, like warrior/mage gameplay sequence in the castle or ice skating, diving etc.

It's one of those games that you can freely suggest to someone who is not a gamer. It's not long, it's simple and just very chill and "kind", so anyone can play it, despite their age or sex. But, yeah this game indeed takes two, you can't play this game solo, keep that in mind before buying the game.

This game is a bit all over the place.

Devs tried to vary the combat system, and yet I almost never used new weapons, like spike throwers, boltblasters and warrior bows. Shredder gauntlet was a nice addition though, I found it really useful in my play through. Devs also tried to improve melee combat, they added various combos, but it still felt really basic and useless. Fighting human enemies is still really boring. Fighting machines is fun) even though machine combat is not without rough edges, cause their attacks have weird "tracking" and some bloated hit-boxes you can't see, so sometimes you are getting hit even if it looks like you dodged an attack. And for the love of God don't play on Ultra hard if it's your first time playing a Horizon game, I warned you

Environmental exploration is also not ideal. Aloy kinda can climb everything, but at the same time not. Cause somewhere on a huge cliff, devs put enough interactable points for Aloy to grab them and climb, and then you have places where those grab points just abruptly end, and you are stuck literally before reaching the top. Or you don't have those grab points at all, because devs decided so. It's weird.

Overall, I liked the story, even though it's completely linear. But that is okay, not every game needs to be an RPG with 10 different endings and dozen of choices. I liked how after some side quest, you can see the consequences of you doing stuff, like purifying the river or helping to restore the fields around Plainsong . But I think they introduced some elements just for the sake of having more content, idk. That red blight for example, I really thought it will play some major role being a major disaster in this new land, but it never explained what the blight even is. They introduce that tall, violent Zenith just to have some baddy to kill off Varl and have someone for Aloy to hate ? Like, they added stuff but didn't really do anything substantial with it, be it some characters or mechanics etc.

DLC was nice, I think, but it definitely was less optimized than the main game. I didn't have any performance issue till I reached DLC. Also, the relationship with a particular character felt forced.

Graphics and overall design are top-notch, of course. This mix of advanced technologies and "primitive" tribes is just so unique and interesting) also underwater scenery and exploration was stunning.

And despite this game being "mid" for the majority of people, I still like and will recommend it. It's not a 10/10 game, it's probably a 7/10, but that doesn't mean it is bad. It means there is a room for improvements. I really wanted this game to be more popular, I wanted this franchise to succeed. If ever there will be the third game, I hope devs will do their homework and introduce more "concentrated" combat and exploration, cause quality > quantity.

TL;DR there are rough edges, it's not a masterpiece, but still a decent game with unique design and lore which I absolutely love.

P. S. RIP Lance Reddick, the voice actor for Sylens

Hades became my first rogue-like game I tried to play. Enjoyed it a lot.

Super cool and pleasing art-style and graphics, trilling OST, simple but working story and sidequests with great characters. Greek mythology as a setting with different gods and gifts from them works very well in such game genre.

Gameplay is pretty simple but addictive and varied enough to spent not one dozen of hours in this game. Looking forward to Hades 2.

AC7 was my first AC game, also I never played any flight sims or arcades before.

I liked the game a lot. It is indeed a game, with simple mission structure and fun arcade gameplay which is also can be challenging and without any modern age game bullshittery. Real life jets models, flights among the clouds, insane OST, gigachad Mihaly, little sprinkle of sci-fi. What can be better?

I am literally Maverick from TopGun in this game and there is nothing you can do to stop me.
