Ok, So I genuinely hate having to put a negative review for a game that I many ways I actually really like. I think a lot of the game is enjoyable and silly on a surface level. The character creator, the art, the voice, acting, and the sexy is all very nice. The game looks good and the dialogue is fun.
But, the game is boring as sin to play. From a tycoon standpoint the entire game has really slow levels with little to no actual strategy outside of make two overpowered gents to beat up your enemies and then one be at the bank all day and a 4th who's sole existence is making gold bricks a thing that feels like such an unnecessary step. Ultimately there is little to no strategy at play which is one of the fun parts of a tycoon/task management game. A lack of strategy would be fine though if the game moved faster in terms of how long it takes to complete a level. The levels in this game are really long but not because of difficulty. It's because you have to spend most of your time recruiting workers so you have the manpower needed. There is no strategy again there. Just set your gent in the slums after having them get their mustache level up and repeat for like way too long. In a tycoon game I expect either you have to do a lot of little things in a singular level and pay attention to many stats over a long period of time or it's a lot of pre-planning for the next round and then that round is over in a few minutes where trial and error is easy to get through. This way you're not just staring at the screen waiting to have enough gents or your next date/teatime. Also there is no point in the stock value mechanic. It doesn't actually affect gameplay in any meaningful manner once you have it because you're not really dealing with a stock system. Not to mention most the items outside of the tonics are utterly useless in the long run and not even in a fun
Also there is no pros or cons to whatever gents you staff from a tycoon stanpoint and even if the scripts for the dates are fun and outlandish I feel this game doesn't take advantage of what a dating system in a tycoon game can do. Like pros and cons for befriending different gents or just the ability to fail a date. I'd love to be able to fail a date in this game and see the result. Right now it just walks you through a script and also it has a very limited amount of voiced lines and background art which I find disappointing. Like, I can tell a lot of work went into this game artistically but it's also really empty.
Overall, I just wish this game had more.... game to it. I'm glad I bought this on sale because I'd never pay the full $20 for this level of content. It's not a good tycoon game and it's not a dating game. What it has is a lot of charm. Like a lot. I would almost recommend this on charm alone but I know that nobody I am friends with would ever play this game because it's just boring from a mechanical standpoint and nobody wants to wait for the fun part of game
