It gives you words of encouragement when you die in arcade modes which is cute, and the multiplayer is great fun, but only if you have friends that can come to your house.

Somehow every time you release an update the game feels slightly less stable. It's like you started with a small infection and you kept putting band-aids on it to fix it and now the band-aids are fused to the infection and to each other and have made the small infection a big problem.
PLEASE FIX THIS.
Main issue is to do with the transition period between practice/qualifying and the start of the race but it can also happen at the end of the race between waiting for everyone to finish and receiving xp and money. During any black loading screen in those periods it is becoming more and more common to see "lost your live connection" or just a game crash. When I first bought this game this sort of thing was a rare occurrence for me. Now it happens about 1/4 - 1/3 of the time.
Another problem is changing car in a lobby and just being stuck on changing car loading screen until you alt-f4. The race your part of will even start and you'll still be stuck on the screen. I've had to alt-f4 like this 3 times in a row on multiple occasions.
The state of the current penalty system in my opinion is actually not bad. Better than it has ever been, though I also hope it isn't the final form so to speak. All that being said, I would much rather an unjust penalty than being able to invest time practising for a race i cant partake in.
This game is starting to feel like Forza Motorsport 7 in terms of unstable. Please look into this stuff, its a bad look. I happen to like Forza's feel in some areas so I'll likely still play this game after this review in honesty but I also could not recommend this to someone the way it is.


Also the main menu and car selection/paint/buy/tune menus suck. Just feels terrible. And there's no personal stats info anywhere, that stuff is cool to have access to in my opinion.

its good

update graphics, updated path-finding, many improvements that the original missed out on in terms of RTS gameplay and controls i.e. multi queue commands with building and travelling and gathering all able to work one after the other. buildings can queue techs ontop of units ontop of more techs. more Civs is good, more campaigns too. over all 100% worth it. very reasonably priced too compared to AoE2HD with all expansions for free this time. this game has aged very well.

my only complaint is i played the old version a lot and i struggle to know what units are what now with all the graphics enhanced but this is more a problem with me than the game and its only a matter of time before that isnt a problem.

Brilliant game from back in the day. A classic that takes me back
