this is a review after 100%ing the game which took me like 30-35 hours or so
this game while far from the best in the series it also isnt the worst it has quite a few problems but that is to be expected in my opinion from a game that is testing a new combat system

first thing to talk about would be the story
i noticed that it tried to tone down on the comedy to make room for a more serious story. while this might seem like a good thing it can also be seen as a bad thing considering the series's past as a comedy first seriousness later kind of games. now dont get me wrong i liked the story since it got me to laugh or actually care in some scenes about it especially the side stories even if some of them might seem like weird trivia some others can be quite funny if you think about it like the one where they play fortnite of all things all day which i find quite hilarious to think about

after that i want to point somethings out in the gameplay mainly the combat system
ah yes the combat system of SvS that everyone is either phrasing or hating. while yes im mostly on the hate side of the community i also like it quite alot i see potential in it since im not that big of a fan of turn based rpgs since after the like 100th battle i feel like they get boring i really like what they went for but of course as you can read in any other review they really fell off. the game can be beat really really easily with how quickly you level up and how op some skills and characters are *ahem rom* but while that might seem annoying its also in the players hands to choose how to play, for example you can only use one character, so the difficulty can be adjusted but as usual neptunia games dont really know difficulty balancing considering most fights are easy af but then you get to a boss battle and its hell on earth so playing with one character isnt the greatest idea. after that i want to say that the game play yet again becomes really boring after a while considering the only time i felt any difficulty and actually had to play the game was on the final boss of the true ending and also at the last 10 floors of the 100 floor neptral tower that the game has. speaking of that tower do your best to stray away from it if you are doing a casual play through its extremely boring and monotonous considering that you go through the same stages youve gone through the whole game with the same music loop being in all of them, if you are gonna complete it get ready with a vc or some music cause you will need it. now this review might seem like im hating on the game ima talk about stuff i like about the game. firstly i like the new dungeons, personally i feel like they were well made and i really love the "free roam" planeptune dungeon it was my favorite in the game and i pray they do more of that in the future.
also another aspect i semi-liked was the disc system, i really liked how some of the disc buffs were really helpful like the extra xp disc or the ability to loop combos but the thing is some stuff like "dodge mid combo" should have been in the base game from the start not as a disc thing cause it really dont help with making the battle system fun and make the game really clunky. another thing to point out is the item system while yes the fact that you have to wait until your skill is charged and pick between a skill or a item is a good idea since it prevents item spamming i really hate how clunky it feels to actually use items or how useless they actually are considering the difficulty of the game.

overall if i were to rate this game
as a normal game i would give it a 5/10 or a 4/10 considering its flaws and wouldnt recommend it to non neptunia fans
but as a neptunia game it goes to 7.5/10 since most of the flaws it has are shared with other neptunia games like the monotonous gameplay of neptuniaU but i wouldn't recommend it as a introduction game to neptunia fans.

its quite a fun game i wouldnt recommend it full price considering its kinda a short experience being around 8-9 hours or so but yeah its difficulty is good its enemies and bosses are interesting its levels are fun and although small they make you feel like they are bigger than they actually are simply because of how they loop around not to mention its soundtrack

the only downsides for this game other than most enemies are just recolors of past enemies is that the story is kinda bland and that fire and thunder spells are a bit overpowered to the point where thunder can beat just about any enemy and charging fire can beat just about any boss with relative ease by just charging fire shooting and instantly start charging it again to fire it after you dodge one attack

anyways longstory short i would recommend this game when its on sale as its a fun short experience of a anime girl exploring a cool dungeon yeah
