Dear Ashley,

It’s hard to put this into words something I’m sure you’ve noticed isn’t exactly my strong suit. But after everything we’ve been through together, I feel like there are some things I need to say, things I can’t keep to myself anymore.

When I first met you, you were scared, thrown into a nightmare no one should have to face. But even in the midst of that chaos, I saw something in you a strength you didn’t even know you had. It’s that strength that kept me going, that reminded me what I was fighting for.

We’ve faced horrors most people can’t even imagine. Every moment I spent protecting you, I wasn’t just doing my job. It became personal, something deeper than just duty. Watching you grow stronger, braver with every step, made me realize how much you mean to me.

I thought I was just a guy trying to do the right thing, but you showed me I’m more than that. You brought light into the darkest moments, even when everything seemed hopeless. Your smile, your determination it reminded me why it’s worth fighting for something better.

Ashley, I know the world we live in doesn’t make it easy to hope for more than survival, but with you, I can’t help but hope. Maybe, just maybe, there’s room for more than just fighting the next battle. Maybe there’s room for us.

So, I guess what I’m trying to say is... thank you. For trusting me, for believing in me, and for reminding me that even in the darkest times, there’s still something worth holding on to.

You’re more than someone I was assigned to protect. You’re someone I’ll never stop fighting for.
