D3 (Casual) - Grim Dawn (Nice Mix) - PoE (hardcore)

Grim Dawn is a pretty nice balance right between the two. The game has complexity in spades for those who want it, but at the same time, if you just want to mash through an ARPG and get some cool loot without worrying terribly about min-maxing, you can absolutely do that for much of the campaign content. On the surface putting a competent character together is straight forward and easily comprehensible. Same story with the gear. It's not deterministic, but you can still kit out a character quite well just through playing the game normally. But, again, if you really want to chase specific pieces or super optimize a build, those options exist for you - they just aren't mandatory unless you're pushing outlier challenge content, which I really appreciate.

Basically, it sits in the middle ground between the two games I've mentioned. And I think that's a wonderful balance to have struck. It's extremely approachable but retains depth where it makes sense. Gear chase is fun and achievable. Progression curve is pretty good (though I do love PoE's "single difficulty" now that they've achieved that).
