Bought this game in 2020 and played it for around 20 hours before leaving it for another day, a week ago I picked it back up and finished the game. I don't even know how to start this review, or say things that haven't been said before, but;

This game is one of my all time favorites for sure, even with just around 70~ hours at the time of this review. I haven't 100% this game or even played multiplayer yet, but for the base story alone, THAT to me makes this game worthy of any amount. I had a hell of a time playing this game, shooting, driving (and listening to some amazing music that was picked out for this game), doing missions, and most of all, getting to know the 3 amigos along the way. There is just so much character pouring out of these three and I'm honestly sad that this game ever had an ending. I really want to see more of these characters in future titles, but I understand if they aren't.

The amount of dedication and love that has went into this shows in every corner of the game, top to bottom. I still have yet to experience everything this game has to offer, and I'm very much excited for that. While there is a few issues I have with this game, overall it was an amazing story that every gamer should experience. I forget a million things everyday, but this game will not be one of them! 9/10.

POSTAL: Brain Damaged is by far the series most unique game in a very amazing way (and it makes sense since RWS had little involvement on this title as far as I know). Unlike the other POSTAL games (excluding POSTAL 1) the formula of having errands to run Monday to Friday is non-existent. You don't have any choirs in this game, your objective is to get from one part of the brain (or dream) to the next while traversing mostly wide open maps with a linear objective of completing the level. (you also have side 'objectives' or 'collectibles' you can gather to 100% the game). You for the most part collect switches, press buttons, and solve some puzzles to progress in the game while killing anything in your way with a huge variety of amazing weapons that are all unique and fun to use. The staple weapon of this game, the Super Hooker Shotgun, is one of the funnies weapons I've ever used in a game. It feels incredible to shoot and to use as a grappling hook for movement.

On the topic of movement, this games movement is very reminiscent of Doom in terms of movement and the way the game progresses (A stage with multiple levels and then a boss fight at the end). By far its the series most fast-paced game and that is just a breath of fresh air. All you have to do is run and gun! The writing in the game feels very 'cringe' but like most POSTAL games that's sort of the goal. It has many MANY references to real life situations and media that made my eyes roll but still got a chuckle out of me. It has some very witty and edgy writing that feels right at home with any POSTAL game. What the games adds for the POSTAL series lore is actually quite a bit, especially at the end of the game, but I wont spoil that here.

Overall a fantastic game with amazing combat and movement with edgy humor that I am ashamed to say I love. This game is even more unique than POSTAL 1 in terms of how different it is from the main series. DO NOT buy this game thinking it will be anything like Postal 2, Paradise Lost, Postal 3, or Postal 4. This game IMO is its own thing, but still try it out for sure! Hyperstrange, CreativeForge Games, and RWS did an amazing job creating this game! To me, nothing can beat Postal 2, but this comes pretty damn close to it. 8.5/10.

POSTAL 2: Paradise Lost is much like POSTAL 2 in many ways (duh) from the combat, to the writing, and everything in between. Something the stood out more, something I enjoyed, was the resolution of the Dudes problems. Really, depending on the way you play this game, the Dude is just an average guy living in a psychotic world, while as POSTAL 1 is a psychotic guy living in a normal world. He really didn't deserve anything that happened to him (again, depending how you played). He finds his dog, he kills his ♥♥♥♥♥ wife, Mad Cow Mike J stops coming after him, he makes amends with Alternate Dude (Postal 3 dude, since the game is considered not-cannon, its kind of a inside joke that he manifested the entire scenario himself in a dream), and he leaves Paradise with his dog and trailer for good. Its kinda a sweet ending at least until you get into POSTAL 4. Personally, if the game ended at Paradise Lost, I would have been okay with that. I have yet to play POSTAL 4, I have heard mixed things about it, but I will still try that game out, as well as POSTAL 3.

In the end, I think POSTAL 2: Paradise Lost is actually better than the base game in many ways. Its very cool to see all the interesting ways the town was affected by the radiation over the past 11 years, and things being warped up (at least for P2 and P2PL). I think alot of what has to do with that is making Postal Dude less of a one note guy and actually giving him some character like loving his dog, and being able to get past alot of the ♥♥♥♥ thrown at him. Then again, maybe im overthinking this game, but eh, who cares? 10/10.

Edit: Okay actually one critique I have to give the game is that you have to, for some reason, play the game through clicking Postal 2, then DLC, and then going to the DLC homepage and playing the game there to earn the achievements / playtime. If you go through the launcher on your desktop, you will not get any achievements or playtime. Its not THAT bad of an issue, but it would be cool if it was fixed.

Since many people have either only played POSTAL 2 or played POSTAL 2 first before POSTAL, POSTAL 2 is far far far different than POSTAL.

If you (like most) are going to play this game (not even buy since this version is free while the other version isn't) do not jump into it thinking it is anything like POSTAL 2 or RWS other games. This game is far more deep, disturbing, cold, serious, and has little humor. Yes, it still has the POSTAL dude, of course, but the similarities stop at that. You wont be pissing on other people, nor will you be throwing funny cheesy one liners left and right, this game takes itself serious, maybe too serious, but it makes for a rather traumatic story beginning to end. The game play is pretty bare bones. Sure, you get many weapons to use, but once you have used them all at least once, the game play stays the same, run, duck, shoot, survive. The prize for clearing out a level is a haunting, yet amazing text screen with eerie sounds and visuals alike, describing what POSTAL dude is thinking and feeling. At first the images and text are coherent, as much as it can be for a psychopathic, scizo shooter, but as you progress, POSTAL dude quickly loses his mind even more, talking about irrelevant things to his current situation. If you play on harder difficulties (or read the manual) you will see a completely different set of text that act more like a war journal.

In the end of the game, POSTAL dude runs into a schoolyard with the intent to slaughter all the children playing outside, but either because hes hallucinating, or can't muster the strength, hes unable to do so, and curls up into a ball waiting for his damnation.

He wakes up in a padded cell while hearing someone (a doctor) who gives some information as to why POSTAL dude might have gone, well, POSTAL. "Population pressure and the stress of modern life may cause an increase in violent tendencies. The urban environment is the incubator for all sorts of undesirable behaviors. However much this atrocity disgusts us, he may actually consider himself a hero. This is common among those who are referred to by the popular slang, going postal. In his tortured mind, he may feel he was battling against impossible odds. It is not unusual for some individuals to believe that the entire fate of the world rests in their palm. In the end, our subject displays all the classic symptoms of a paranoid delusional. We may never know exactly what set him off but, rest assured, we will have plenty of time to study him."

This game came out during a time when ex-military worked at postage offices, and just like that, went POSTAL. They got aggressive, bloodthirsty, crazy - it was their time to go POSTAL.

Overall this game is truly a work of its time, something IMO with a deeper meaning than just crude violence. Its not particularly a fun game, but, its one hell of a ride and story. 7.5/10.

Pretty boring. Just felt like walking around the whole time to get jumpscared. Graphics and sound were nice though. 4/10.

Warning: This review will be shorter than what I originally wanted to say since there is a cap on how long a Steam review can be, sorry in advanced. I will not be going over its Game Mechanics, Sound Design, Music, Voice-acting, and Story.

POSTAL 2 is one of the best games I have ever played un-ironically. I absolutely loved following the Dude and Champ on their wild adventure of all 7 days (and more) in the town of Paradise. This will only be a review of POSTAL 2. If I feel like it, I will make a more in depth review of the DLC on its own steam-page, as well as the original Postal.
This review will be the most time I have ever spent on a review (a few hours), because I feel so deeply that this game is one of the most important ones out there.

How I got into POSTAL 2, and the POSTAL series / main points I will be going over.
There isn't alot to say about this point, my close friend showed me this game a few years back and just recently I got really into this game. Not only do I love this game, and Running With Scissors other products, but this game specifically and Its Fundamentals, and Game play both make this game something very special to me, and honestly, to the world of gaming itself. I don't think many games can hold the title of "Being one of a kind", but by God dose POSTAL 2 completely deserve this. (On a side note, from what I have seen, RWS is a fantastic company that seems to put its followers first, and revenue second. What I mean by this is that they will create games that will do poorly by other gaming companies standards, but they whole-heartily know this, and still choose to release their games, because they know that fans (and even people like me who wanted to experience something new) will love this game for years to come. They chose freedom, creativity, and loyal fans over money and THAT takes some balls to do. Even more so when they are a independent video game studio that knows how much backlash a game will get. Papa Desi, thank you.)

Firstly, the fundamentals.
Id first like to discuss the reason RWS and POSTAL 2 (and pretty much the entire franchise) needed to exist. RWS really pushed for what a game company should strive to be. This isn't me ♥♥♥♥-riding RWS, but proving that RWS (and POSTAL) needed to be here. RWS is a independent gaming company that puts its fan base, and even consumers first before profit. I have said this before but please listen. Firstly, RWS (atleast with this game) made something that they seem to be very proud of to this day, either still promoting this game in some way, or releasing clips of game play on their Instagram and Youtube channel. They even (atleast with Desi), interact with their fan base on Reddit and other websites with much of it having to do with POSTAL 2. This is a game that was so critically disliked and ♥♥♥♥ on by big name video-game reviewers for its time (much like the rest of their games and even more so for the original POSTAL), that have had to impact its sales and reputation drastically, but instead of throwing in the towel, they laughed right back at those peoples faces, and pushed on. If RWS were to have stopped completely making games, and even take down POSTAL 1 and 2, it would have set an example for other independent gaming companies to only make games that cater to a wider audience, or make games that don't try to explore the niche aspects of what a game can be. It takes guts to ignore what must have been hundreds if not thousands of websites saying how much they despised this game and its creators. They still create new games to this day, and while it still doesn't make other companies or medias like them, they do it for the fans. I've seen first hand that RWS has given free copies of the game (steam keys) to people. A user by the name of u/Hackase64 on Reddit was given a free copy of POSTAL 2 by MikeJ (RWS employee) just because he wasn't sure if the game was worth his money. Regardless if it was or wasn't, MikeJ gave him a free copy. Honestly, it shows that RWS is more happy with someone giving the game a chance and being a life-long fan over being ♥♥♥♥♥♥ by buying something they might have not liked, just for RWS to have gotten a few dollars. No, just because RWS gave people free copies of the game dosent mean much, other companies have done this as well, however, these are companies that give their free copies to famous Youtubers who then play it, and review it for money most of the time. It makes the reviews feel disingenuous and for the soul reason to sell more of itself. Those companies blatantly put their revenue first, and the consumers second. RWS gave copies away to people who might have not even liked the game, just to give them a chance to try something they worked so hard on. They didn't ask for a review, or to be compensated in anyway BUT for them to atleast give it a chance for the years and years of negative reception. The kicker? POSTAL 2 IS ONLY 10$. Other companies wouldn't even think about giving away free copies for nothing in return, especially if the game was only as much as a 12-pack of soda. RWS laughs at micro-transactions, which I find to be even greater because other companies much more well off in terms of money sure as hell have micro transactions and absurd price-tags for games that are worth less than POSTAL 3 (wont be going into that game lol). I mean Christ, the DLC is longer than base POSTAL 2 and is better but for EVEN LESS. We need more companies like RWS that put consumers and fans first. It is why a like POSTAL has survived as long as it has. So if there is anything to take away from this length of text, support RWS in anyway possible. Let them know how important they are to the gaming industry.

Lastly, the game play. The game play of POSTAL 2 is great in many aspects. For starters, It allows you to find a wide variety of guns, explosives, melees, and also your (REDACTED) for you to urinate on others. Each weapon has a fantastic feel to them, meaning that when you use any of the weapons, they have a solid 'kick' to them. Even the weapons that deal less damage (excluding head shots), feel amazing to use, and I feel like the sound design has a lot to do with that. Even on POSTAL 2's higher difficulties when the weapons do much less damage, the weapons STILL feel great to use. You do not start with any good weapons, but that leads into another great game play mechanic of POSTAL 2, which is exploration and its 'open world'. POSTAL 2 doesn't allow you to roam the entire town of Paradise on Monday, but it also gives you just the right amount of space to explore areas that don't have to do with your objective like getting milk and cashing your check, that highly rewards you by giving you amazing weapons, interactions, and 'health pipes'. I dislike how modern games always advertise themselves as open world, that somehow that's supposed to be a selling point, but in many modern open world games there is either nothing to explore, or no sense of direction. In POSTAL 2, the game has a world brimming with personality, items to find, things to see, and people to kill. The game really isn't 'open world' per say, but you can avoid your objectives and task until you feel like you want too, to complete the day. I personally always did the task last, because it was highly rewarding to look in every corner of the map that I could. However, like stated, you aren't able to explore all of Paradise in 1 go (at least on Monday), so it gives you just enough to work with while also having your task be the main focus. I wouldn't even call this game a sandbox like many others do, at least on the scale like Garry's MOD, since there is a clear objective for the Dude. In short, you have the potential to have a lethal variety of weapons at your disposal if you decide to explore the town to its fullest. Not only will you take away more items to work with, but you will have the chance to encounter some wild thangs going on in Paradise.

666/10.

Overall a fun little indie horror game. I like the games atmosphere and controls alot. I also thought that the driving portion of the game handled very well. I got spooked a few times, so thats always nice. Pretty decent game. I wish it was longer but it did its job well! Score: 9/10.
