I got a glitch that wiped out all my save-files and to make matters worse, I'd just finished the game yesterday. I was really warming up to it too, but I guess it just doesn't love me back. This is the first time in my history of being a DMC player that I've run into such a problem, not even DmC bit me like this. All that effort gone down the drain.

>Oh but you gotta back it up or else that happens.
Piss off, I've been playing Steam games for years and I've never had to back anything up because of this much incompetence.

Where do I begin?
Art-style is complete ass.
-Trish and Lady look like ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, so there goes my hetechromatic gun-wielding waifu and OP fruedian slip. Dante looks great age-wise, but his attire's got nothing on his DMC4 design and his ost is complete ass. No wonder they're selling the old DMC tracks back to us, the music in this game is by far the worst in the DMC franchise. Blah blah blah, music is subjective I know, but please don't tell me Subhuman is better than Blackened Angel or Taste The Blood OR Divine Hatred. Bloody hell I'll take Lilth's Club on repeat compared to anything here. Nero is fine and maybe it's just me but I kinda dug the short-hair cut more.

-Vergil looks like an Italian cousin, and way too different from Dante to have that twin connection they got going in DMC3/4 which sucks.

-Enemies have lost their variety, they all looked like blackened mould people from RE7. They could pop in a resident evil game and I wouldn't bat an eye. Not even the 7 Hells look good. They just look like skeletons with coats and scythes. And because the game is so dark, I couldn't even tell them apart from the scenery. Their attacks are so boring too. What happened to the clumsy mannequinns in DMC4? The suicidal antics of the unstoppable Blitz? The intangible Mephistos and their cowardly shell? MUHFUGGING BIANCO ANGELO.
Here we got: armored lizard, not-assault, Bianco Angelo with lack of coordination, and goon variation #32.

-DMC always had this weird fantasy meets realism thing going on. Character outfits had this medieval english twinge to it. It's subjective to complain about it but I believe it gave the game some identity. Look at the old designs and you'll see what I mean. Dante had class, but now he looks like a homeless man, same goes for the level design too. We've gone from fighting in cathedrals, castles and hellish towers to caves and cities.

Game is SLOOOWWWW.
-Arcade-ish feeling of DMC4 is eradicated and replaced with a sluggish approach to combat. I mean pick up DMC4, switch on turbo mode and play LDK Mission 17 and tell me you don't feel something compared to DMC5. I mean I get it sure, the hyper-animation wouldn't work because it'll look odd with the realistic graphics in play but my question is why? DMC has always had that anime-edge, why remove it for this crap?

-So many stupid loading screens. I can't customize my character without a loading screen, the cutscenes have loading-screens. Idol of Space and Time makes a return and hey presto a stupid (albeit two seconds) not-loading screen.

-Don't even get me started on the bosses. They all follow the "haha I don't feel like getting hit anymore" AOE sub-routine that plagued most DMC3 bosses. I came into this game expecting the improvements from DMC4, I wanted a Credo rematch. A boss battle where it felt like I was actually hitting someone on my scale, but most of them are just re-runs from the old DMC games. It's not fun playing 'wait-your-turn' when it comes to action games.

-Where's Darkslayer? This is supposed to be DMC4 improved right? Why can't I use the Yamato with Dante anymore? That's more a nit-pick but whatever.

The plot doesn't hold a candle to DMC3.
-Spoiler warning if you haven't played it but it doesn't matter, you've already seen the Vergil thing, you know where it's going. I'm aggravated that they had to resurrect him though because it makes the ending of 3 moot. Vergil throwing away his sheathe after accepting death and letting Dante do the work, holding on to his amulet because it was birth rite? Nah guise, Vergil is now a Vegeta wannabe who just comically goes after power and has a doppleganger who likes classical music. This being the same Vergil that gave his assistant a free gastric bypass when he acted out of line.

-Let's talk about Trish and Lady too. They're both useless as crap in the plot-line, which goes against the message of the 3rd and 4th game, that being the importance of humanity. But nah, lets give all the attention to the super-powered bad-ass lads. No trouble there, but come on, it's a downgrade. I want my demon-hunting gals doing more than just taking a back-seat. They're not even playable anymore. Or I don't know, maybe they will be DLC and I'll have people go "but anon they were always DLC."

And that brings me tooooo:

>Vergil as DLC.
Vergil was never hidden behind a paywall, it just wasn't the intention to release him in the old base games. In DMC3s case it was a response to its success. In DMC4's case it was due to the stagnation of the series and an attempt to drum up hype for a possible 5th iteration. Both of these came with super editions way down the line. It's obvious from the get-go that they had Vergil planned and held him back for a post-release date. HE WAS NEVER BEHIND A PAYWALL in the previous games.

Microtransactions.
-enuff said.

Edit: I said BP wasn't a feature and I was wrong, forgive me for that. It is, but since the game had the lovely idea to delete all my save-files I can't even test it, so kudos to that.
Thank God I didn't buy this game.

It's okay 6/10. It's not complete trite (like DMC2) and I can see why new players and so called "DMC fans" would get into it, but it sure as hell is the wrong direction for the DMC franchise. Definitely better than DmC but that's not saying much.
. . .At least DmC didn't delete my save-files.

Please bring school-girl Lady back Itsuno, thank you.

It's a very unique racing experience. Enough of the cliche titles plaguing the market, this is the kind of innovation we need.

Can't launch the game. Rockstar Social Club won't verify my email and I've had enough of trying to make it work.

It's a neat game, only wish it didn't start the Classic Sonic craze.
