Tekken 7 is a fun competitive game with a pretty steep learning curve. There's not much content, though. We get a Story Mode that's fine. It has its flaws, but it's probably the best story cinematic story mode that's not from MK or Injustice. That's not saying a lot, but hey it's something. Outside the main story, we get a 1 match mini-story chapter for all the characters that wasn't important in the main story. Each one start with a text introduction for the character and what lead them to the fight. Then the fight, win 2 rounds and that's it. A nice little cut-scene plays and it's over. These cut-scenes are short and quality-wise range from terrible to mediocre. If you're a person that likes Paul, you're not going to like his. For each one of these mini-chapters, A character is tied to another character. So for example, Yoshimitsu's opponent is Leo and Leo's opponent is Yoshimitsu. So there's very little continuity. And DLC isn't included for the story chapters except Elisa. Outside that, the game is very dry in single player content. In arcade mode, you fight a few matches against coms with a boss battle thrown in at the end. No more cutscene at the end like the older games. No reward whatsoever. Treasure battle is this games "Survival mode" where you keep fighting coms infinitely. The twist is, you need to play this mode to unlock customization items for the characters. It's fun for 10 minutes, then an absolute chore. There's no other ways to unlock the customization items except winning tournaments online. Winning a tournament gives you 3 pieces. Also, It's all random for both game modes. So you're going to be playing for a long time if you want all the pieces for your character. Also, Treasure battles have special matches where the game is sped up or double damage and so on. The customization outside the main costumes is atrocious. Luckily, this is PC and can easily modded, and the modding scene amazing and put out quality mods almost every day. Tekken Bowling is DLC and... yup that's bowling. No twist, just bowling with your favorite Tekken characters. That's it for Single player content. The base roster is pretty good. Except for Lei there was no exclusion from the cast that made me say "wow that's messed up." The gameplay is Tekken. The only thing that sticks out as bad to me at this point is the way rage arts work. If you're winning, you have to completely halt your oppression, or you will eat a fully armored super move that will take half your health bar. If you take the game seriously you'll learn how to deal with it, but it's still very annoying. The training mode is very good with a option to recreate any scenario. Also, a punishment training mode to help you learn how to punish certain moves for each character. And, sadly, frame data was added, but they made it paid dlc. The online mode is serviceable. We have Ranked, Casual and Tournament mode. The connections are very hit and miss but when its good its good at least. Also, theres still a lot of people playing.
