A labor of love I wish I'd tried out sooner, a vast majority of the community are incredibly welcoming, the content creation behind this game is wonderful, and the interactions you find yourself having fighting alongside your squad mates and blueberries will stick with you. From strictly following small unit tactics- keeping clear comms, calling bearings, and keeping your head down to outmaneuver your OPFOR; all the way to recklessly driving a Humvee around the desert doing hit and run strikes on enemy logi trucks, all the while the resident blueberry is blaring Megadeath and your squad mates are making nonstop Generation Kill references- you'll find your place and fall in love with the wonderful work of OWI.

Update 10/9/24: While ICO might have changed things for what some consider the worst, the game in a population state is the best it's been ever. And while I might not play vanilla Squad anymore due to ICO, mods such as Global Escalation and Super Mod - Tactical Collective have breathed new life into the game for me as a whole. While the tenets of Squad's gameplay have changed under OWI's newer leadership, the foundations of the game's core principles remain the same in the community. We still Super FOB, we still talk ♥♥♥♥ like it's MW2 in local chat, and you still get to see those small unit tactics put to work. If you're someone who gave up on Squad after ICO like I did, give it another shot with GE or Super Mod, you might just fall right back in love.
