I can't keep doing this man, I can't keep grinding to build a fun marginally viable deck only to have to do it all over again the next expansion because it changes the meta too much...

edit: upon further thought, the game does a lot to help the player get what they need to play, don't try to play the meta if you're starting out cause you don't have many cards, don't liquefy cards willy-nilly, it's a collectable card game after all, use trial decks and play story and the events that pop up every so often to get more rewards.

it's a shame how common powercreep is in this game, your fun decks will only be viable for so long. If you sink a fat chunk of money into the game you might just build your desired deck for unlimited, I enjoyed playing a whims of chaos deck.

also the ELO system is garbage cuz it's not even a real elo system, it doesn't matter who you lose against, you always lose the same amount of points which results in you getting paired with people with vastly better decks for way too ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ long. I had to restart the game because of this.

Kind of a masterpiece but at the same time it kinda reeks.

I first played this game when I pirated it. Man… what a game. It blew me away.

Update: After another 200 hours, I have mixed feelings. I kind of hate it now, but I also still love it. Dark Souls 3 hits in a totally different way when you're first getting into its world and story. But these days, I just wish the gameplay was a little different. A lot of small things bother me now that I didn’t care about when I first played.

Stuff like weird animations (scythe backstabs) look awkward, and offhanded weapons don’t feel right (like how the Ringed Knight Greatswords’ idle stance just leaves the left sword hanging in your hand as your wrist single-handledly exerts your 40 points in strength). Durability is way too forgiving, so repair powder is basically useless. Poise working as intended™. Souls dropping where you die in the host’s world instead of where you used the Red Eye Orb isn't really sensible. And NG+ giving slightly better rings as the main reward? Kinda lame, since the game doesn’t feel super replayable to me (Most of my time is spent clearing the high wall with new characters and then coming up with a new build I MUST try).

Respeccing is another thing. It’s locked behind mid-game, so if you mess up your stats early on, you’re stuck dealing with it for a while. And since respeccing is limited per playthrough, experimenting with builds without cheating just feels like a pain.

I notice little things like this because they’re what separate a great game from a masterpiece. Dark Souls 3 is still amazing, but I can’t help but wish some parts of it were just handled better.

Good game if what you seek is a fighting system to learn, bots are good enough at the game to challenge you for a looooooong while.

AVOID BUYING GAMES OUTSIDE OF STEAM OR FRONTIER STORE, THERE'S A HIGH CHANCE YOU'LL GET YOUR PRODUCT IMPROPERLY AND BE UNABLE TO PLAY THE GAME.

Having that resolved, this game is goooooooooooood. But it is grindy, you gotta learn to enjoy the game even when you're a small and weak fly in the vast expanses. I really expected to hate this game ngl, but I'm rather enjoying space eurotruck simulator 2020.

Also I recommend you do illegal stuff, it's really fun.

I enjoyed my time with this game. Account was blocked by administrator out of the blue, probably because I've been making and deleting characters often and I recently moved to europe. Be careful.

Comment when this game gets rid of its damn class obtaining system which forces you to play so long before you get to use the one class you're actually interested in... Seriously, I don't wanna play some wishy washy ice wizard nor a lazily designed paladin whose weapons and armor couldn't be more uninspired. Also, I realized that you can't even do this game's content while solo. That bothers me as I don't want to awkwardly beg in chat for someone to join me, I just wanna play the damn game. I suppose this is the way of MMOs, a garbage genre that enables horrible game design, and people eat it up! Why? Because the social factor carries everything if you meet the right people, but at that point why play a multiplayer game if the social factor is its only saving grace? You could be playing any other multiplayer game with better substance and the social factor would be just as good, while the actual game itself is enjoyable even if alone.

You might think "Brother chill out, why do you feel so strongly about MMOs?", I'll make my point of view easy to understand: I grew up playing these games not out of choice but out of necessity as I genuinely had nothing better to do for 2/3rds of my childhood. MMOs are the games most consistently plagued with copiously repulsive anti-consumer and anti-fun practices. My options were MMOs and insipid shooters that are all set in the same ww1/ww2/contemporary warfare settings, and MMOs were the only ones that at least had an interesting presentation (I cannot stomach even clicking the play button if the game does not appear novel in some way), although the gameplay loop was arguably worse.

I hope I can one day find a good MMO and retract the statement that MMO as a genre is spiritually and morally bankrupt, always shooting itself in the foot for perceived short term gains. Until then, I hate it all.
