This game is amazing, it truly feels like a culmination of everything Frictional Games has learned for years of making Horror games into something truly unique!

The sound design is pristine, the voice acting superb. The setting is unsettling and the story is a genuine masterpiece.
The only issue with this game is that it doesn't look graphically very good (even worse than Dark Descent at times), it's missing a ton of interactivity with the environment and it's not really scary.
So it is recommended if you want a really good piece of art, but if you just want to scream a bunch at scares you might want to pass on this one.

It's a bit sad it missed the halloween released and had little marketing, but it's the classic Nightmare House 2 mod. It's a game mainly inspired by F.E.A.R but it's honestly a fun time!

This game is amazing but it's not for everyone. You have to really enjoy jumpscares to play Cry of Fear, because this game is fueled entirely by jumpscares. There are some cheap ones but most of them are actually really well thought out. The story works so well for a game and we get a really good explanation of the themes of the story, it's way better than some other psychological horror games.
If you are not a big fan of jumpscares or can't stand them I would recommend Afraid of Monsters : Director's Cut, made by the same devs. Sadly it is not on steam but I hope they bring it over eventually.

I think I played this game with the wrong mentality, after hearing the director's commentary I understand this game and what it tries to achieve a lot more.
In fact I wouldn't say this is a "game" really it's more of an artpiece using the medium games in a unique way.
It's an experience that will feel tiring if all you want is to get through it as fast as possible, or trigger the next dialogue, or reach the end. It's more to be interpreted as a moment in time, someplace to chill out for a while and reflect.
The commentary also made me realize the insane work put into this, mainly:

-randomly generated story/dialogue. The game picks from 4 different lines of dialogue everytime, making the story you're playing through completely unique.

-randomly generated props. Yes even items in the environment telling the story are randomly generated, you can find books, wedding rings and even ultrasounds that tell a completely different tale each time.

-music and visuals are amazing, the visuals do lack a lot of color for the most part but every frame of gameplay looks like a painting, and the music goes perfectly with it.

So the game looks good, has a pretty cool story and nice soundtrack. But the gameplay is absolutely atrocious, from the slow run speed to the incredibly annoying "pixel hunting". It seems like a lot of it was used to make the game longer than 2 hours to beat. I haven't played Redux but they should make the items easier to see in the environment as well as speed up traversal (or add shortcuts).

The story of two opposing views of art through video game development told by a video game, it doesn't get more meta than this, and it short enough to get the message across.

This game is so damn addicting. It's really fun though especially if you love intense short burst Arcade games. Great when you have few minutes to play.

I find Village to be pretty disapointing overall for many reasons. From the game losing PC options from RE7 (no FOV slider anymore what??) to the dumbing down of the balance between horror elements and power fantasy moments. This game basically plays more like a first person version of RE4 than an actual sequel to RE7. And yes Capcom has really changed as a company since RE7. which was in a way their last big creative gamble that paid off. Now they just give the people what they want (which usually amounts to more RE4).
I would still recommend the game because it looks great, it plays fine, the voice actors are really good and the world looks absolutely breathtaking. But it truly feels like a step down from RE7.

This game is peak Survival Horror, it breaks you down only to build you up stronger than ever, yes it has a ton of power fantasy elements but they all feel earned. The direction in this game is on point, from every object being 1:1 in scale creating this realism aspect to the places you find yourself to the amazing graphics. If you want a good time, if you want fun horror that can make you scream as well as laugh, this is it.
