Hell ya!

This is about as close as living in a Mad Max Universe as I ever want to come. Just like the movie, everyone dies but poor Max.

I had a great time even when I was getting my ass handed to me.

Every fight felt fair. Every victory felt earned.

One of the games you MUST play.

No in game save. Only check points. If you are like me and find that sucks the fun out of a game, avoid..

Do you like games with crafting?
Searching for and extracting resources?
Finding treasure?
Sailing the seas with a map you must fill out?
Some lore and history?
Missions to send you in all directions?
Hunting? Fishing?
Exploring?
None of these things is overly complex on their own, but together they make a great experience IMO.
A little like minecraft on the sea.

Overall, I found this game very enjoyable.
The sailing while not overly complex, was both fun and relaxing.
It is one of those games that compel you to do just that one more thing. And you discover another path you can follow.
I always think there is something else to explore or maybe I should read one of the book I found for a clue to some fun adventure.
You can also play with friends. You can give them your kit. If your friends get lost and don't know where you are, they can teleport to you, should you chose to do that.
If you are on a distant island and they are joining the game at map coordinates 0,0, they will need to do that at least once.
While there is only one save slot, if you die, it starts you at your last save spot at a safe distance.
I think the graphics are very good (the pirates being the only exception).
My only complaint is the fighting is a little meh.

They are working on a Salt 2. Hopefully they will eventually add multiplayer as an afterthought, as they did with Salt.
Either way it looks to be very much the same winning game design, with improved graphic, story and combat upgrades.

No save option takes the fun out of ANY game. Publishers who think their games are so special that they can decide when you can save are just wrong. There are so many great games where you can save AT ANY TIME. Don't waste my time. Don't waste your time.

This is probably one of the best games I have played. And I have played a lot. If it sounds like I am gushing, I am.

In short it is Thief like but with the charm of 'A Princess Bride'. It is kid friendly (no killing) but fun for adults. If you want to kill and fight things, this game is not for you. The story and lore were amazing. The levels not too big. The game not too long (30 hours). Note however that you will be going over the same areas over and over on your many quests. But the levels were so maze like, and organic, that they never seemed stale and boring. The levels and missions were designed in such a way that it almost forces you to see everything. There were just a few missions that I never completed. There is not much in the way of AI. The rat guards have their standard posts and walk paths. But this did not detract from the fun of trying to figure out how to best elude them. The graphics were wonderful (occasional glitch near walls), the interface slick and easy to use and follow. The characters charming and well thought out. A game well worth the price. Brilliant.

The end leaves an obvious sequel to be created. Let's hope it happens.

Don't listen to the detractors. This is a fun game. 5/5

If you liked Rebel Galaxy, you will like Rebel Galaxy Outlaw. It takes the 2D paying field and adds a dimension.

I did find my gamepad hard to set up. But I find setting up a gamepad in steam confusing at the best of times. The trouble taken to figure out how to set it up was well worth it. I did not enjoy using a mouse and keyboard.

This is not a space sim, but a game for fun.
Trading, pirating, or being a hero.
Sandbox universe where it is you against the universe.

It can get repetitive after many hours, just like Rebel Galaxy or Endless Sky(Mount and Blade in space?). But, just like those games, it is so easy to jump in and out of, it seems like coming home when you fire the game back up again.

One of my favorite space games.

Update: Although the final mission of the main story line was less than climatic, I believe it was done that way to make it seem like the story could continue and that you should just keep on playing. It worked for me. I will be playing for a few more hours at least. I still have to fix up m space station!

Ahhhhh, you can lose your saves when they force updates down your throat. Not cool....

Sorry, any game you can't save when you want gets a thumbs down from me. It does not make a game more atmospheric or compelling. People have lives outside of games developers. And forcing those of us to redo parts of a game again is not my idea of fun.
