Hi matt.

I think this game accomplished exactly what it set out to be but the Devs wont stop making it better. some of it seems really complicated in the beginning, hell I didn't even know what a ballast was. Don't let it scare you though, It really doesn't take that long to learn. This game is most fun when when you are submerged in chaos, it provides an experience I've always wanted that not many games capture. If you got a good group of friends (3-6) to play this with you're set. Just the feeling of fear that sweeps through your body when only the dark red emergency lights are the only thing illuminating the room and you hear captain say through the static, "Dear god... BRACE FOR IMPACT". Anticipation is a strength of this game. you're always waiting on something, addiction to disaster is what I would call it. When you see the giant cluster on sonar that gets closer with every ping, when you're hanging out in engine room and within the blink of an eye the walls are gone and all you can see is teeth and glowing eyes in every direction, when captain says "Hull breach in armory" and through the door you hear the muffled screams of "♥♥♥♥ MUDRAPTOR, MUDRAPTOR IN ARMORY" and you freeze in fear outside the door listening to the flesh tearing knowing its not long until you join your best friend in Davy Jones's locker. The game creates stories, like Rimworld does if you know that game. Its always fun to retell the times when you had lost all hope but saved the Swiss cheese that was your ship at the bottom of the sea. I find myself starting new saves all the time but it isn't because the game isn't good long term. the progression is awesome, different biomes new upgrades/guns for your ship, an awesome skill tree with cool and unique rewards for your persistence and monsters that are bigger, have more teeth, more eyes, more armor and can smell your fear.

The game isn't all blood sweat and tears, there is a super in depth ship editor where you can make your very own vessel so you can pump the blood sweat and tears out of your ship even faster! It really is amazing to build something, start from a blank blue space and create a machine. you know its ins and outs, you hook up the reactor, place the fins, install the pumps and watch your metal box of cables and doors sputter to life. you can really do a lot with the editor, it is kinda hard to learn because there isn't many good tutorials but you get the hang of it. and you can really go a long way with it. I wouldn't be surprised if you could use the game components to build an in game phone and order a pizza to your house. Really interesting stuff there. I just open it up, put on some of the OST songs like Wartrauma and Marching upstream to lose hours of my day. Best way to play? Id say hard difficulty, play campaign, turn on the advancing radiation, have a group of friends, try out workshop mods and ships, and maybe use the in game voice chat because it has some unique effects.

I have never beaten this game. Never even come close, and it doesn't matter in the slightest, the DREAM of making it to the center of Europa is enough for me, everything in between that is what I payed for. So much more I wanted to write but this rant has gone on long enough, you'll see what I'm talking about.
