MORDHAU:

The game we've all been waiting for. I have personally been following this game since one of the first developer blogs in 2015 (unfortunately I was not able to help kickstart the game). Mordhau has been the saving grace of computer gaming for me, and after a week of playing an average of 10 hours a day, I felt it was time for me to give my review.

The spiritual predecessor to Chivalry: Medieval Warfare, in my opinion Mordhau seems to excel in every single area of gameplay. The combat feels fluent, extremely detailed, and fair. Most of the time, your death is because of your own mistakes (unless you got stabbed by 6 angry knights at once who have been chasing you down :P). No more cheap gimmicks from players who have managed to break what was supposed to be possible, and no more silence from developers about these cheap gimmicks. There are a nice variety of game modes for all tastes, with players of varying skill populating every server. The graphics are nothing less than stunning, and the deep customization is enough to keep anybody coming back for more.

Lastly, I need to emphasize how devoted Triternion is to their game. With a very small team scattered amongst the globe without even a small office space amongst themselves, they have managed to create the multiplayer medieval slasher that will spearhead the genre for years to come. I absolutely believe Mordhau has a place in E-sports, and Triterion is who we have to thank. This game is also their first title as a company, and aside from a few launch issues, Mordhau is everything I could ever ask for. And what game doesn't have launch issues? Bigger triple A titles have had issues and haven't been patched for months to come. Triternion patched their biggest bug within days, give the devs a break.

A small note to newer players (because many veterans from similar games have come together in this title), take your time to learn the game. You will die over and over and over again. But you will learn, adapt and eventually overcome. A game with such an in-depth combat system has a very high skill ceiling, but I promise you will reap the rewards of staying and watching yourself improve. Don't be scared to message that person in duel servers who has killed you 10 times without taking damage for help. Most of us want to help.

To close this review, I will give my only small complaint, which is that I think the in-game voice commands could be improved.

An easy 10/10, for years to come.

A laid-back but cruel city-builder.
Along with the addition of mods, Banished has to be one of my favorite builders to date.
The AI can act a little dumb though, so 9/10.
