There I stood-
Shackled, smashing against the sharp,
Stake-like rocks.
Heaven-high chains bind my body.
The clear blue sky mirrors my lifeless reflection.
I rot.

Scarlet-red blood paints my face.
I am the exiled, the punished and the forsaken.
The sweet thought of death crawls into my mind.
I endure.

The vulture plunges onto my flesh-
It shreds my skin, it rips me apart.
My guts spill into the void like a grotesque bouquet.
I survive.


Descending into the never-ending abyss,
I lay bare.
From ashes to ashes, dust to dust.
I suffer, yet I heal.

I had promised you the light-
Offered you the purifying fire.
You've gone on, I was never meant to be.
I am far, yet I feel you close.

I gambled- eternal misery was my reward.
From the filth and muck of the old,
Shall be born the purity and beauty of the new.
I am tainted, yet I cleansed your soul.

The torch is yours- hold it high.
You were the sparkle that lit up my world
And I love to watch it burn…
I am dead, yet I live on with you.
