A well-timed love letter to fans of the Portal franchise, Portal: Reloaded seeks to open a gateway to gameplay elements dreamt of by players for the best part of a decade.

Time travel finds itself fittingly squeezed between the epicurean portal mechanic that players have known and loved, and does so in a way that does not detract from the utility of the device in question, but instead accompanies the expansion of the mind to the suggested calibre of 'thinking in four dimensions'.

The tests are satisfyingly difficult, with levels averaging around 8-12 minutes of time to be solved during my play through, and yet they do not lose a Valve game's signature sense of direction and education toward new elements, through rich narrative placed between and during puzzles

As a result of which It is accommodating for both new players and familiar players that seek a new challenge in which to be immersed in.

The narrative itself takes the understandably usual direction of Portal mods and expansions and commands the player through a sub-narrative, that gives glimpses of the Mainline games. An enjoyable and fulfilling story-line, additionally rooted with the charm of experienced voice actor Harry Callaghan giving an uncanny portal announcer voice-over makes Reloaded feel grounded within the Portal universe.

A supreme yet subtle game, Portal: Reloaded takes the Cake , by bending Valve's ancient rule of two, and giving us a hands-on glimpse into the future
