with zc2 out now and the game suffering the same issues i can finally say ive been scammed

game is mid but people giving it negative reviews for going free to play when that was literally always planned are out of their ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ mind, if you didnt know it was going to be free you probably have serious issues managing your money and making research before buying ♥♥♥♥

if you're actually stupid, maybe, not only is the guy that used this in his review not understanding the actual meaning of this sentence and is misusing it (which makes the rest of an otherwise half believable review sound out of topic, also for the record that review almost got me to buy the game before the free trial happend) but there is no comparaison in what ill say here:
the game ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sucks, it's just bad, and if i compare it to coh2 then its a disgrace and an insult to the player, in the first five minutes of play time i ran into more issue than i did on ANY rts game ive ever played, this game fails to understand concepts 2000's rts' mastered, ai pathfinding is ♥♥♥♥♥♥, target aquisition is ♥♥♥♥♥♥ (ai twitching between targets trying to decide who to shot whilst ultimately missing everyone) the combat is plain bad with units shooting at each other for MINUTES without anything hitting (there was a point where for testing sake i sent a medium tank to shoot at an infantry squad, no cover, about 10m apart from eachother: the tank missed for 1 minute 34 sec straight before hitting once doing no damage, cause i mean why would a tank shell in your legs actually hurt you?, and going back to missing, i wished that was a bit honestly)
the game has no sense of flow or direction, remember the importance of early game? the 4min half track 9minutes tanks or whatever other rythm you would shoot for depending on the situation? yeah if you dont have an jeep by 1:30 here idk how you did it, tank at 4 and a full army by 8 is normal, this could be an upside: if it was controlled, some games do this very well here its randomly implemented at the expense of early game combat (which sucks anyways cause its just two units missing each other behind the dumbest yellow cover ever) oh right
yellow cover: ANYTHING can be yellow cover, seriously anything, i had 5 dudes sit behind a lamp post and it was yellow cover, a whole ass car? nah green cover is fine, a random wooden box on the floor wide enough for a single guy? enough yellow cover for an entire army
oh yeah and the game looks like ♥♥♥♥, really, the screenshots and footage do it favour for sure but in game its messy at best, yes it looks better than other rts games cause the other ones are old asf but as someone who is into game dev and game design this game is a complete failure design wise and tech wise,a waste of a perfectly capable engine and its poorly optimised on top of that whilst losing the art direction that made coh2 look so good despite being technologically behind
also on top of being a mediocre game its an awful product, 60 dollars for an undercooked game with content that should be base game in the store and dlcs that are there to insult you: 15 dollars to finish the campaign they forgot to end on release is insane

now ill stop ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on the game cause there are enough reviews to do that and instead answer to the only positives one ive seen (no targeted hate in what im saying btw just using this to bounce back on the few, points coh3 defenders use): all you say is that "boo ouh yall just nostalgic about coh2" no. ive barely played coh2 and i dont care for coh2, truth be told they couldve never made that game (talking about both coh2 and 3 atp) and i wouldnt care in the slightest, im glad they tried though the game ultimately is just bad (now im talking about 3).
you think the campaign is cool? good for you honestly i dont have much to say about said campaign outside of the fact that they literally didnt finish it on release its fine in and out of itself, literally every other positive ive read is off topic and dosent really talk about the game but instead the company, the time period and graphic which makes me think you are the nostalgic one here assuming that every other negative review must also be nostalgic about 2006: i was barely born let alone did i care about rts' games back then that dosent stop me from looking back upon it and seeing that even an unbalanced mess like 1.0 battle for the middle earth 2 is more fun than this game, now to go back to the whole "you shouldnt compare" thing do you think mwIII is great cause you refuse to compare it to mw19? do you think fallout4 is amazing cause you refuse to compare it to new vegas? do you think battlefield 2042 is a success cause you refuse to compare it to bf1? all of these games ARE enjoyable (maybe not mw3) but if your reasoning as to why you like them is because you refuse to compare them to the other ones then you dont know WHY you enjoy them, i recommend you keep on enjoying the games you do even if they are worse than the old ones objectively, really i mean that but, i also urge you to read up about game design as to understand how and where these games differ because we are reaching a point where a lot of people will choose a game as a default choice either because it has no competition, is the most recent one or because they have friends to play it with (which are all valid resons really), enjoy it as is, and refuse to look for other options or even look into the game they'd swear they enjoy, if you like it get into it and understand it dont just close yourself off and reject all critism by isolating you and this game in a bubble (which really is what is going on when you refuse to compare coh3 and 2, its not like comparing cod and battlefield, this is a direct sequel which is why the saying "Comparison is the Thief of Joy" dosent apply here in its intended use at least, and if we were talking about movies saying this in the current situation would seem stupid despite it being the exact same point) if you ENJOY coh3 more than 2 im really happy for you but dont go out and say that its BETTER than coh2 when the reason why you think so are subjective and the game is riddled with tech issues

overall, is it that bad of a game? heh not really its just extemelly mediocre and unfinished, maybe a 13/20 on a good day and ultimately with more time and effort it will get better than coh2 was BUT is it an awful product currently? absolutely, just like many other games releasing atm the product is dragging the game down to a 8/20 kind of experience and i honestly cannot recommend this ♥♥♥♥ for more than 10 dollar, 20 with dlcs, you like rts games? play older titles, you like coh? there are two other games for you, you dont like either? go play cod or smth you prob got lost and tried this cause it was free

truly a waste of potential, people that are giving it positive reviews now have no idea what this game was and what it should be rn
