I have to say. It's been awhile since I reviewed this game. Over a thousand hours of playtime. I still love this game. I would not recommend buying into Paradox's predatory DLC policy. I have also come to recognize the game as a childishly simplistic one. I wish so much that it was more complicated, more like a true Victoria 2 in space. But that is simply not meant to be. Instead we have this. Certainly a unique title amongst Paradox's lineup, and one which is made magnitudes better by mods, but one which I believe is fundementally flawed, and much too beholden to the classical Paradox ethos of mindless expansion, hampered solely by external threats, with internal country management designed for the sole purpose of better optimizing outward expansion. This is simply not my cup of tea. I would rather the game be more about the internal politics and structure of my nation rather than about the constant and ceaseless drive to expand. Of course, perhaps a sequel will change things to be more to my liking, but I do not believe they will. If you are considering buying this game, keep in mind that you are buying a distinctly unambitious and orthodoxically minded project, albiet a well made one. Purchase the DLC only if you like what you are doing, and take into account that Utopia, Federations, and Nemesis are the ones which I would consider necessary to most fully experience the game. Also use mods. You won't regret it.
