Hands down one of the best movement I've experienced in video games. It just makes it a treat to zoom around feeling super cool while you're doing so. The ceiling for expression and optimisation is also high but the charm is in not requiring masterful skills to feel satisfied. The music is perfectly themed. The visual aesthetic of each area embodies that N64 vibe nicely. In true metroidvania fashion, everything is laid out in a way where you can really feel lost. I haven't played after the map update but I really believe this game shines without the need for one. Figuring out my bearings, asking myself "have I already been here?" reminded me of my kid days. Lastly, combat. It's not great but it also doesn't feel like a negative since it's not the focus but there's no doubt a little more could have been done to flesh it out a bit more. Perhaps a couple more bosses and few more normal enemy types, complimented with using movement options as attacks to keep the flow of the game.
